Thinking of moving area - what research to do?

We're thinking of moving to North Somerset/south of Bristol in a couple of years. Dd would be going into sixth form so precise area will be determined by schools. We've obviously got some time to get everything sorted. What kind of research would be ideal? We're going to go and have a look at some areas this summer in a general sort of way. I know Bristol very well but the outskirts not so much

  • look at schools but don't put emphasis on ofsted reports. schools hoodwink ofsted - always, and schools know how to manipulate exam results, e.g. put kids in for wjec's which are considered easier than gcse's because they're mainly course-work based which are done in-class - with the teacher around.
  • have a drive on google maps looking for kids flashing the peace sign or, trying to
  • ask about specific areas on here!
