How is you fridge / freezer faring in this hot weather?

Our fridge part isn't keeping things cold properly and isn't making the usual whirring sound. Freezer gone all icy inside. It's a fridge / freezer. Any suggestions? Really can't afford a new one!

Could it need a new door seal? They can be very easy to replace yourself, and cheap, if that's the problem. You are supposed to be able to test it by closing it with a slip of paper inside the seal long enough to reach when closed, and if you can pull it out very easily when closed it isn't sealing properly.

No suggestion but I randomly checked how cold some food was in our fridge this afternoon... And the cooked chicken was 12c which is far too high for a fridge.
