Cost to convert a window to french doors

We currently have a window and would like to replace the window with straightforward white UPVC French doors. It doesn't need a support or lintel, it just needs the window removing and the brickwork underneath the window removing. The opening remains exactly the same size.

Any idea of costs? We're in the middle of a renovation project and the builder is throwing around £1800 but that sounds terribly high or is it?

Much less than our job. Our window is 3m wide and we're getting sliding doors for double your quote.

Thanks, I don't have the measurements but it's definitely not 3m, possibly 2m at the most.

We are in London and did it 12 months ago for £2000.

Best thing we've done to our house Smile

Thanks to both of you. Sounds like it's about right then, just sounds like such a lot of money but we are definitely doing it regardless as it will make a real difference

My previous reply seems to have been eaten by electronic bugs.
I did say, we did this last November for £1200 in West Midlands.
Very pleased with the result.

We had this done earlier this year and it looks great. It was around £1500 I think - the doors alone were about £1000!

Thank you again, the doors aren't £1000. We've already got one set and they were about £600 which is why I think that i thought the rest was rather pricy especially as the builders are already onsite
