What colour to paint my house so it works with the neighbours?

All the houses in my road are painted cheerful colours except ours!

I'm having a stress trying to chose a colour that works with all the other colours around it. It seems impossible and I could really use some suggestions.

We are in a small terrace so clashing colours would be very obvious.
On one side of us the house is French Grey and on the other it is pale yellow.

Currently we are red brick, which I hate, (and the only house on the street not painted) and our front door is dark brown wood, which looks hideous with the red. The window sills are all warm cream which I like and want to keep.

It's a very small house, so nothing dark as it would make it look even smaller.

I thought maybe light blue but it doesn't seem to work next to the grey, and I thought green but it doesn't seem to work next to the yellow. Pale orange works with the houses either side but not with the front door.

Sigh.... HELP!

I was going to day blue - I think it would depend on the shade of grey and shade of blue, but it could work.
What about lilac?

Pale lavender.

Have you asked the neighbours their opinions? Then def can't be accused of trying to piss them off!

Or even pink?

Pastel colours like this rather than brights.

You could paint your front door the same colour as the window sills.

Sage green?

Pale blue, pink or sage green

I'd say the pale green in the last photo posted by a PP, and definitely paint your door cream to match your windowsills.

Thanks everyone so far! I tried a lavender tester and it looked awful with the front door. I would love to paint it, but it's not real wood, it's fake and I've been told it won't hold paint.

I'll go and get a sage green tester today and see if that works.

Lavender - just no. You are going to clash with everyone if you go for an obvious colour. We have Lime White from F and B. Goes well with a yellow and grey. Is neutral enough to be classy! Paint your front door Lamp Room Grey by F and B. That picks up the colour of your neighbour's house. Dark brown is fairly ugh! It would be better painted with lovely door furniture.

You probably could paint the door you know - there are paints popular with 'upcyclers' that paint anything, including UPVC external doors and leather sofas(!) - possibly Frenchic or similar?? Would possibly give you some more options for the main colour if you could change the door.

Don't paint your bricks! You will turn a wonderful no maintenance surface into so much work: imagine when the paint will start to peel off!

Spend the money on getting a new door that fits with your lovely windows. It already sticks out and it will be worse if/when you paint it.
