Cost of a new garage door

I need to replace a garage door on my late father's property. It's an up and over metal door and it is old, bent and hanging at a sorry angle. It needs to go.

After a brief internet search it seems I'm looking at £1000 with cost of installation. Is this about right? Has anyone had this done lately?
The property is in Kent.

I have literally just been googling garage doors myself as ours is very tatty. They are so much more expensive than I expected! I think we will strip and repaint our existing door.

It might be worth a look on eBay. There are a few going for £100 or so (one for £10!) near us that people are selling due to having their garage converted. Unfortunately we don't have access to a van to transport one. I'm sure you could get someone independent to come and fit it for you.

sorry I don't know what they cost, but some people think the fibreglass ones last better.

It is vitally important to measure the aperture at least a dozen times to be sure of a good fit. The old frame will want replacing, but they are very simple.

£1000 for a good quality steel up and over door, supplied and fitted, sounds about right.

That would be for a single door without an automatic opener.

Thanks everyone. Good advice Piglet re measuring the frame scrupulously. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and pay up!

Ratatouille I am a big fan of eBay and normally try to be frugal, but I don't have a vehicle and with limited time to spend I think I'll have to go buy new.
