Cost of removals in Wiltshire.

I'm overseas and a bit out of the loop for what things cost in the Uk. I need to book removals from a small two bed house to a three bed new build. The houses are about four miles apart. The first quote has come in at £650 removal only plus £350 for packing. The area is Wiltshire. I have no idea if this is a reasonable price?

That sounds about right. You could always get a couple of quotes if you think that one of them is quoting too high though.

Sounds expensive to me for a 2 bed - we recently paid £300 packing and £600 removals for a 5 bed going a mile to a 4 bed. Different area but things tend to be expensive here.

Thanks for your replies. I am on a mission today to ring around a few companies for comparison.

In my experience removals costs can vary wildly between companies - it's definitely worth getting at least 3 or 4 quotes.

I went from a 2 bed flat to a 4 bed new build covering 30 miles in the North West with a detour on the way to pick up more items at a cost of £300.

The cost escalated as we now need to move out and store for a few days then move into the new place. I'm relieved to have found a company who can do it at fairly short notice.

If that quote includes storage (rather than a direct move) then it's probably not too bad.
