Asthma at what age can this be diagnosed in children

My son age 5 suffers I think of asthma since a very early age. I would like my doctor to refer me to see a paediatrician since over the past 3-4 months even a mild wet nose (early onset of a cold) will trigger the cough, and when there is an abrupt change of weather from cold/hot/windy. I would like him to have a blood test to determine whether he is allergy prone. Though my doctor says he is too young? is this the case? I would also like to know how bad it is. He is now on 3 different puffers brown, blue, and green, he has had coughs a week on and off over the past 3 months.

Wrong page!! But I will say the advice I was given is they can only diagnose asthma when the child can do a peak flow properly. Ds just about can age 5 too. Book in with the asthma nurse at your go 😄

Wrong page but my 3 year old has moderately severe asthma. Turns out to be moderate asthma with a dairy allergy. We did get a referral as he was admitted via a and e every 4 to 6 weeks for a year. The Paediatrician says they can't formally diagnose asthma as they cannot reliably do the peak flow test but that anecdotally they can. My DS is on blue, brown and montelukast and it is now under control even with a cough. You need to keep pushing for a referral if you are not happy.
