If you knew you would never be able to afford buying your own home any other way would you do it if you had the opportunity?

It depends how much I liked living there and how long I planned to stay.

Yes, but I would check:
How much any ground rent and service charge might be
How much mortgage payments would be in lieu of rent and that I could afford it (including any extras currently covered by rent, such as buildings insurance)
How secure I felt in employment - housing benefit doesn't cover a mortgage, I don't think.
Is it a good deal?

I don't agree, overall, with the sell off of social housing, but as an individual, you have the right to do it, it's legal, so why wouldn't you?
