Has anyone got a bath filler on their bath that fills from the overflow?

So you just have taps on the bath and the water comes out of the overflow bit?

If so any opinions on it?

We are having the bathroom done and we've bought a double bath with the plan to have the taps in the middle. However we were thinking it might be safer for the kids not to have anything sticking out so was looking at the Bristan free flow bath filler.

Thought id heck here just incase they were known to be a crap idea. Bristan seems to have discontinued the one I'm looking at and I don't know why 🤔

Watching as we're considering one too

Yes we had one in the last house. I loved the look but it took way longer to fill (p shapes bath) a minor irritant really but I always prematurely undressed and would end up cold waiting for my bath to run!

We've got one and works fine. No bumped heads in this house. My "taps" if that's the right word are also mounted on the wall so it looks all streamlined.

Yes we have one and love it. We tanked out the bathroom so didn't want any holes for taps etc. The water flows a bit slower than normal, but it's not a problem.
The photo is from when we were installing the bath.

Ours was installed on Friday!

Agree with PP - Really pleased with the lines. Minimalist. No issues.

Yes I have and it's great, my taps are on the wall overflow in the middle.

We don't have separate taps....the filler itself is the tap too.

We have one. It's so slow, especially on a larger bath. Takes 15 minutes to get a reasonable depth. No one has had the endurance required to have a deep bath!

Magic star can I ask what make yours is? I'm about to bin the idea as it's going to work out really expensive as the side valves are separate to the overflow bit so it looks like £200 minimum.

I got it in my local builders providers here in Dublin, for about €70. I've googled the UK, and found it here for £48

It was very easy to fit too.

I love ours. Yes, it is slow to fill, but I just set it going then putter about doing other things until it's ready. You could always have it pumped if you want a fast fill. Sadly, it does not make good bubbles.

I wanted the handles in the wall, but they ended up on the top of the side at one end of the bath, which is lovely, because it means that I can top up without moving during a long soak.

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 06/12/2016 20:37

The one you pictured appears to have a lever sticking out of it. Ours doesn't.

bouncydog · 07/12/2016 05:48

We've had one for years as we have a double ended bath. No taps. Water is controlled by a shower lever fitting mounted part way up the wall so no heads banged on it.

YelloDraw · 07/12/2016 11:02

Had it in the bath in the flat - was terrible. Took so long to fill that bath would be cold by the time it was full. Potentially that was just a crappy quality one tho. No idea as I didn't put it in.

If there is a problem with the filler do you have to dismantle bath panel

I’m no plumber but all the gubbins for ours is behind the panel with the levers on. From there it’s just a pipe to the filler.
