Seems we reached 1000 messages so I've started a new one!

OP posts:

Accepted offer on our house beginning Nov, and had our offer accepted same time on our dream house. Fast forward to just after Xmas- our buyer's buyer pulled out. Fast forward to now- our buyer has a new buyer and so we grind slowly forward again. Anyone else tired to the bone of those conversations that go 'we will do that when we've moved'? Which go on for months and months. I do believe that at some point we WILL move and this will be behind us, but it is very very stressful !

joystir59 · 10/02/2017 18:22

Sorry to hear that Millimat, what happened?

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 10/02/2017 21:37

Oh no what's the delay millimat

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 13/02/2017 19:15

We are almost ready to proceed I hope. Meeting with solicitor Wednesday to sign contracts. Please let nothing else go wrong!!! We are still likely to complete near end of march but this is the preference as we are in rented and our seller is happy to wait as long as exchange done! Please keep fingers crossed for me that there are no mysterious last minute shenanigans

wohmum · 13/02/2017 20:26

We were due to exchange today after last week's strop, cue a phone call at 4pm today..... Not quite there, most of deposit transferred, but the useless solicitors had sent their Client (my buyer) an incorrect document - this is at least the 4th document they have sent with the wrong price on!

Buyers are now out of the country and have little access to printers or scanner to sign and send it back, maybe tomorrow, poss Wednesday at the latest... I've said that we still have to complete by 28th Feb , but I don't really have much to bargain with I guess . It wouldn't be too bad except every further delay costs me money as I'm paying a mortgage on an empty house (we're in rented) .. Wish I'd insisted on an exchange within 2 months before taking house off the market. Still - hopefully, there this week.

wohmum · 13/02/2017 20:29

Fingers crossed for you arsenic, at least once you've signed contracts you know that you're nearly there!

Any news for you today Millimat?

Millimat · 14/02/2017 11:04

Yay exchanged yesterday, moving in a week!

ocelot41 · 15/02/2017 06:20

Hello, can I join? We have just gone under offer again - this is our third time! Chains keep breaking because of Brexit plus other factors to do with buyers' personal lives. I REALLY hope this is 3rd time lucky for us!

wohmum · 15/02/2017 09:04

Excellent news Milli - I'm hoping we'll exchange today too....

Good luck Ocelot . We just had rubbish buyers/ solicitors, so I can only image
I can onlimagine how it feels to have 3 buyers drop out!

CampervanLady · 15/02/2017 09:06

Hey all, we had the valuation done and we are just waiting for our buyer to receive his mortgage offer. I hate all this tick tock waiting.

We're going into rented and guess what - there's NO rental properties available in the area we wanted to move to. Typical! I know we are looking too early but it makes me anxious knowing nothing is available. Usually there's loads....

We'll just have to look at "back up towns" Grin

I love reading about the exchanging of contracts and progress being made.

C'mon! flexes muscles GrinBlush had way too much caffeine today

ocelot41 · 15/02/2017 18:34

Thanks woh. We have had two drop outs - both at the point of exchange. The first was very frustrating because it had taken 3 months to get to that point, the second was horrid because they were just so nasty about it. Here's hoping our luck is changing

ocelot41 · 15/02/2017 18:36

Sorry you aren't having much luck with rental Camper. Try Airbnb. It is off season now so most Airbnb properties don't have bookings and they might let you do a long one. That's what we are doing

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 15/02/2017 20:06

Hi all
Glad to see there's some movement. We've signed all our paperwork today so hopefully will be exchanging ASAP. Won't complete for a little longer though as we have to finish the tenancy in the rental we are in. But we are getting there at last! Ocelot what an ordeal for you. Hope it all goes well from this point on. Don't worry campervan the rental properties will show themselves! Bloody buying and selling houses is a nightmare Confused

OnceUponATimeInLondon · 15/02/2017 22:29

Was talking to a friend tonight and she said if someone is asking for a reduction close to exchange they are getting cold feet.

Anyone think this is likely? Sad

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 16/02/2017 13:12

I'm not sure Once it might be that the buyers are chancing their luck but have every intention of buying. It's a shitty thing to do I think whatever the reasons. There's plenty of time between SSTC and exchange to get cold feet and change their minds. Is this happening to you?

OnceUponATimeInLondon · 16/02/2017 13:47

Seems to be. Don't have much to go on as estate agents are giving me literally no information. Am so fed up with them, feel like I should be paying myself their commission as I only ever phone them and remind them to do stuff!

ocelot41 · 16/02/2017 17:23

Hi once, that happened to me. We caved and took the reduction. They pulled out anyway. Its incredibly stressful and I am sorry it is happening to you Flowers

OnceUponATimeInLondon · 16/02/2017 19:36

Thanks ocelot. I feel silly because I feel guilty for not agreeing to it. The whole thing is such a head f* - excuse my swearing it just describes the emotional side of it well Smile

I think we may have come to a compromise, the estate agent promised to call me back by 6pm to confirm, of course he didn't...

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 16/02/2017 21:08

Let's see what tomorrow brings Once and hopefully it will be good news for you. In the meantime Gin

ocelot41 · 16/02/2017 21:13

Oh I am really sorry Once. That is so stressful. But you know if your home sold once, it will sell again. You will get there. This is the worst bit - the not knowing

OnceUponATimeInLondon · 16/02/2017 22:27

Thanks Arsenic and ocelot Gin and Flowers to you too. My fingers are crossed for us all, whichever stage we've made it to...

ocelot41 · 17/02/2017 07:29

If the worst comes to the worst, and you have to go back on the market Once, give me a shout and we can talk about how best to do that. I have done it twice now and both times got another proceedable offer in 2 weeks. It totally sucks but you can pick yourself back up and get going again, if you need to.

CampervanLady · 17/02/2017 14:41

Ello!

Well, no update here. Our buyers solicitor hasn't even contacted our solicitor with enquiries. Does anyone know if it's standard for the buyers solicitor to wait until their official mortgage offer is in before submitting enquiries and local searches?

It worries me because our buyers solicitor is already ignoring our estate agents & our solicitor. HmmGin

seafoodeatit · 17/02/2017 14:48

I've just seen this page/group! Hope I can join!

we're first time buyers, had an offer accepted in December and waiting to exchange now, the seller is in a chain and is buying an empty property we've been told. Our solicitor already has our signed contract and deposit money, just waiting for the sellers to get it together, we've already had the completion date pushed back a week even though it's the date they suggested! was supposed to exchange contracts this week but it's not happened, so irritating! we've had everything ready for ages.

Once - that's terrible, surely if you want a reduction then you ask for it before you even talk about completion!

ocelot41 · 17/02/2017 19:13

Hi seafood, that sounds a lot like our chain! If it is, hello from the top end!
