Master bedroom front or back of the house?

Hi there

I've just moved into a 2 bedroom house on a small quiet close, the bedrooms are very similar in size and shape with only a slight difference in measurements between them.

The front bedroom faces the close which consists of other houses and driveways, and the back faces the garden and in the very far distance you can see the main road.

Both bedrooms are double and quite small, but both have built in wardrobes as well as space for own wardrobes.

Also the back bedroom is slightly different in that it has a recess to the side of the wall, which could fit in a dressing table or big vase....(I don't plan on putting a dressing table there, just trying to give you an idea)

I personally like the idea of the privacy of the back bedroom, but not sure if the slight difference in size should lure me to the front.

What would you choose?

Thank you all in advance

I'd always choose a bedroom at the back as tends to be quieter if I could but most important to me would be which gets more light?

Also, what do you plan to do with the one you don't use?

I like a window that gets the morning sun. It wakes you gently on a nice day.

Thank you both for your post didn't think of light.

@eastwestsouth my daughter will have the second room

We started in the front. Moved to the back (which is smaller, though still a double). Much quieter.

I did the same, Helly. One night I went upstairs and realised I had forgotten to put on fresh bedclothes after stripping the bed to do the wash. I was so tired, I went into the spare room and slept there. When I woke up, I went, this is much nicer at the back (compared to main bedroom at the front) and moved things around after that.

Where the sun comes up is a major issue. Also how quiet it is, especially as I like to sleep with the window open.

I'd put your DD in the quieter, darker room and have the other one (unless she is a superb sleeper and you are a very light sleeper)

Oh thank you all for your comments, I really do like the idea of the back room 😀

Back. Quieter, better view of gardens, no streetlights.

I would choose the back room

We have a back bedroom which is very quiet. The only downside for me is that's where the sun comes up so have had to take various blackout measures or it would wake me up.
