House near an A road- would you buy it?

I am really keen on buying a house on a lovely terraced street in a nice area. The issue is that the house is about 8 houses up (about 50 meters) from an A road with a train track the other side of the road (about 100m away) . There are also other roads nearby but the A road is the closest. The front and back windows look out onto the quiet street and garden so road noise in the house is not an issue. Its more just about living this near a busy road. Would you buy a house this close to the road?

No.

If there's no noise, then yes, absolutely.

The sort of A road that's just the main road through an urban or suburban area and has plenty of shops and flats on it? Definitely. Will also have good public transport links. Seems like a normal place to live.

Dual carriageway type, looks like a motorway that happens to have some houses alongside? Possibly not unless you're really desperate to be in the area, eg nearly priced out of school catchment.

Yes, I live in a house like that. You can't hear sirens unless windows are open - the odd neighbour party is way more of an issue than the A road. Crossing the side roads by it is easier than the other end of our road where cars are much less careful.

The A road has about 8 bus routes, with a stop on the corner so very handy.

No, not after having lived in one!
