Hi all,
Could you please give me tips on places near London to buy a flat/house 250K cash, in a safe area, green and open minded. We are both europeans ;)
I love London, want to relocate there but I'm scared of crimes and pollution!

So OP according to you, a black or Asian person doing that is...what? Would you have dared to put trash after one of those words?

Yes berkhamsted is very nice. I'm a Londoner but would happily live there. I think a polite way to phrase what you're looking for is simply a "nice area" or "not a rough area".

Live up north, not near a KFC, buy a car and book your train tickets in advance.

@Lorelei76 I already said the term wasn't well picked...why do you need to keep lecturing me?

OP because I'm really disgusted though apparently MNHQ think it's fine.

I see I'm in the minority, ha ha, so I'll go away. maybe you call people like me black trash behind my back but for some reason white trash is okay on a public forum.

Either way, your apology means nothing, it's clear who you are.

MNHQ haven't deleted "white trash"?! Shock

"Don't bother with anywhere in Essex if you want open minded." is a bit much too TBH. This thread is a bit of a clusterfuck.

Try living with a ukip councillor in the 3rd safest Tory seat in Britain and tell me Essex is open minded.

Essex is a big place.

The two boroughs either side of me in Essex feature in the 5 most eurosceptic boroughs list too. So yeah, where I live doesn't exactly feel like a hotbed of liberalism and open mindedness Confused

Not to mention being the county with the only ukip MP and where Farage launched his vegetal election campaign last year

Report
BitOutOfPractice · 22/11/2016 23:10

General. Not vegetal! I don't even know what vegetal means!!

What even is white trash?

Well why not suggest she avoids Tendring then? Confused

And Thurrock, and Castle Point, and Rochford...

Report
Manumission · 22/11/2016 23:13

That's still only a portion of the county.

Suffolk borders have a completely different vibe. London borders different again.

You want to move to this country yet you call people "white trash".

Two words.

Fuck you

And I know Essex is a big place, I've lived here for more than 20 years. It has many many great qualities and lovely places. And in lots of ways I would defend it to the hilt. But it would be pretty far down my list of open minded places. That doesn't mean to say there aren't open minded people here. I count myself as one. But like I say, " open minded" isn't an adjective I would readily apply to it.

The Suffolk borders aren't exactly "close to London" though are they?

Confusednotcom · 22/11/2016 23:18

White trash eh. Gobsmacked.

They're about the distance she's looking at in any direction on the budget TBH Smile

Basildon, Thurrock, Grays, Wickford, Rochford, etc etc etc all considerably closer and definitely doable on that budget

I reported "white trash" to MNHQ this pm
To be fair I dnt know what they think as I can't access the email linked to this account so if they've emailed to say why they're fine with it, I haven't seen it. but clearly it's still here!

The Essex comments sound horrible too.

Many of you will have seen me saying it's a scary time to be non white and a woman. This kind of thing makes it worse, free reign to chuck out racist rhetoric everyone! FFS. And from a poster who says "ooh I must live somewhere open minded because ya know, nudge nudge, wink wink, Brexit". Fucks sake!

Report
BitOutOfPractice · 22/11/2016 23:37

That poster was me and I didn't even mention brexit. So ffs yourself eh?

I am expressing my opinion on whether the area I live in is generally open minded. I don't think it is. So, answering the OP's question, I'd say this part of Essex which is close to London and affordable, doesn't tick the "open minded" box. My opinion. And obviously a huge generalisation. Just like every opinion about huge areas / entire cities have been across the whole thread.
