Is this actually legally 'wrong' or just morally arseholeish?

I'm trying to buy a property. The surveyor has said it's not suitable for a mortgage (for no reason and the mortgage company are appealing).

I've just found out (through ninja means and a lot of bloody luck) that he's wanting to buy it !

Do I let the chief partner surveyor know at the company? My mortgage provider?

He's a young bloke and a right fucking wide boy.

Please report him to every fucker.
He was happy enough to screw your life up (and money if you've spent anything on searches etc?) and cause you problems. So don't feel sorry for the twat.

My2centsworth · 08/11/2016 17:33

Damn I so wanted to hear Humphrey eating humble pie. Yes I am way overinvested Grin. Glad you got a good outcome even if they ruined it for the rest of us

Diamogs · 08/11/2016 17:35

OP you are bloody brilliant

AndShesGone · 08/11/2016 17:36

Humphrey was his supervisor though. No wonder he was trying to fob me off. I'm guessing he's in a whole heap of shite now.

PikachuSayBoo · 08/11/2016 17:40

Are they allowed to send out unqualified surveyors?

Kidnapped · 08/11/2016 17:40

Hmmm, Untwatty seems to be suggesting two different things to you :

  • They need to supervise poor old houseless Wide Boy more
  • They are going to fire him

All these references to 'desperation' and 'clouded judgement' and not 'criminal acts' and fraud' suggest very strongly to me that they will actually do fuck all unless you take it further.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 08/11/2016 17:42

If you're a chartered accountant you can get struck off for "bringing disrepute upon the profession". I imagine RICS is the same. It doesn't surprise me that their MD is taking it so seriously!

RobinBanksisInnocent · 08/11/2016 17:43

I take my hat off to you OP. Outstanding detective work and a perfect result.

Footle · 08/11/2016 17:49

Perhaps hold off on accepting the box of chocolates/case of red , for a little while. Not sure a 'gift' is appropriate at this stage.

Arkengarthdale · 08/11/2016 17:53

Ooo well done! Twat (surveyor) with a twat of a boss (Humphrey) - dear lady indeed! I'd have Harrumphed at that (see what I did there?) Grin

anotherdayanothersquabble · 08/11/2016 18:12

Great job!!

madgingermunchkin · 08/11/2016 18:13

Definitely make sure you report.

They are possibly hoping that if they butter you up with sweet talking and appearing to be taken seriously, plus a compensatory gift, then it will all be forgotten and swept under the table.

Armbags · 08/11/2016 18:32

I think you handled it brilliantly OP.
It sounds like a case for dismissal and they want your complaint to strengthen that.
Think I would be more happy to see Humphrey dismissed than Martin if I were you. What a condescending knobhead.

Hope you you're very happy in your new house!

JenLindleyShitMom · 08/11/2016 18:33

Yes it does sound like you were being 'managed' OP and I would guess they are hoping you are satisfied enough with offers of gifts etc not to go to the police.

yellowbirdie · 08/11/2016 19:58

OP - This thread has lifted my spirits, you are super sleuth legend! Well done!

I'm wondering if the managing partner wanted to get rid of him and this helps his case enormously whilst getting you do the work to make it possible...

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 08/11/2016 21:28

Well done
Report him as partner suggested and hope you get the house

Police ! This is not for the police

Go ninja !! 🗡🗡

Kidnapped · 08/11/2016 21:34

I cannot wait for the establishment of the AndShe'sGone Detective Agency.

OP, you'd get a lot of work from Mumsnetters. Think about all those husbands acting furtively on the Relationships boards.

You would make a killing.

geradine · 08/11/2016 21:44

OP you are fabulous!

OldBootNewBoots · 09/11/2016 06:22

Well done, sounds like a great outcome, amazing

Agiraffeisnotacat · 09/11/2016 06:45

Just seen all of this. Glad justice prevailed OP.

CheddarGorgeous · 09/11/2016 08:18

Well done OP. Will you update us on the outcome of your complaint?

FetchezLaVache · 09/11/2016 08:51

And don't forget to tell us what your compensatory gift is! :)

LemonBreeland · 09/11/2016 09:23

Excellent result. Maybe managing partner wants you to report him to RICS as it is makes it an easier process to fire him. Definitely complain.

AMR123456 · 09/11/2016 09:57

If he is not yet fully qualified that may also mean he's not a member of the RICS

cavalo · 09/11/2016 10:10

Getting away with this sort of behaviour gives wide boys ideas about becoming president one day Sad
