How much does being a semi reduce the price of a property?

We've always been detached until we purchased this property 18 months ago. We bought it to 'do up'.

It's a 1940's semi. 4 bed. 3 of which are doubles and one is a single. Downstairs is huge. It has a snug (12' x 10') so not that snug but has an open fire (working) it also has a 15 x 18' lounge and a large dining kitchen 18 x 18' which is a brand new extension with new kitchen and quality limestone flooring. It also has a detached garage and the garden is large (1/6th acre) as well as parking for 4 cars. This is in a picturesque village and the house sits up a dead end gravel drive facing the village green with fields to the rear.
Similar detached properties are going for £450,000 to £600,000 in the village but ours is the only semi and next door hasn't sold for 20 years - how much less would you expect to pay?

20% maybe? How much cheaper was it when you bought it compared to similar sized detached houses?

Around 10-20% depending on other factors I would say. We live in a semi and it's the same as the detached houses in our area, I've just calculated the difference in what they go for and it's 12%.

I was thinking £375000 if I could get equivalent detached for £450000 which is just over 15% cheaper.

I think it depends as well - are the living areas attached (with stairs / hallway on the 'outside' of the house) or are the living areas apart from each other.
In my next house, I would prefer detached, but would consider a semi if the living rooms weren't sharing a wall with next door's living rooms.

I would say up to 25% cheaper. My house (semi) was valued at £125,000 4 months ago but the same size house on the opposite side of the road is detached and has just been valued for probate purposes at £199,950.
Although that is closer to 30% I don't think that's realistic as a sale price and would probably sell closer to £175,000.

I think it also depends on the value of the house - so my figure of 10% was based on a difference of say £500k for a detached and £450k for a house which is exactly the same (same size plot, same square footage etc) just detached. Thats about right for where we are and the value of houses.

It would be nonsense to suggest that say 30% would apply - i.e. the detached would be £500,000 but the equivalent semi detached house would be £350,000 (i.e. 30% cheaper).

Thank you guys! We bought for £260,000 but the house was empty and needed work. We have extended it and decorated as well as fitted a new kitchen etc so to cover our costs and make some to cover our labour time we need to sell the house for £350,000 so I was hoping that it was viable. I think we might just about be in the right ballpark looking at a 10-25% reduction from a detached house.
