I;m having pan drawers under my sink - can I still have a boiling water tap?

I really wanted big wide drawers under my sink, so have gone for that, but belatedly realised that tanks for boiling water taps need to be sited in a cupboard.

My sink is going to be on the island with a dishwasher on one side and a pull out bin unit on the other, no cupboards nearby - does this mean I'm restricted to having the Franke tap where the tank sits in the plinth? I couldn't make out from websites whether it would be possible with Grohe or Quooker taps.

You may have to give up on drawers under sink if you want a boiling tap. They do need quite a lot of room.

I have a quooker (bloody love it) no way you can have anything useful underneath it other than a place to store washing up liquid etc. Bin or pan drawer is out of the question..,,

If you sink is near a corner, you might be able to put the quooker in the corner. You can access the gap in a corner if you have something that pulls out. For example, our dishwasher is next to the corner, and pulls out, and has its own piece or worktop fixed to the top. Next to it is the cooker, so that piece of worktop would not be part of a long run of top anyway.

This would not work with an integrated appliance, which has to be screwed into place.

Tumble driers are very light and easy to move. Washers are heavy

Otherwise, see if you can have two cabs, one with the quooker and one with pan drawers. A single sink, or a sink and a half, will certainly fit in an 800mm unit, and possibly into a 600mm, because of course the drainer part does not project into the cupboard or drawer below.

Pan drawers under sinks are a bit of a disappointment because so much space is taken up with the sink and its pipes, and especially the waste trap.

One of my clients had a Quooker in an 800mm drawer style sink base with bin storage too - the boil box is positioned centrally under the sink and the bins pull out in a C shape around it . I'll add a pic ...

We have an Insinkerator hot / filtered cold water tap. The boiler part of the equipment (or whatever it is) is quite small. We needed small because we planned to have our kitchen bin+2 recycling bins (plus another container with washing up+cleaning stuff).

Our tap and our area under the sink work great. Can't imagine going back to a kettle again - or buying bottled drinking water.

PS...ours is 800mm wide too.

The 3litre tank is smaller than the 7litre or combi tank if space is tight

Thanks for all the replies! OnePlan - your design is interesting and makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately we've ordered the kitchen now so can't alter the drawers. As I remember the top one is cut out around the waste pipes, but there's no cut out in the bottom drawer and the bin unit next door is also a pull out.
Apparently the Itho tank also goes in the plinth (I think it's basically the same as the Franke one) so will look at either of them. Thanks again.
