I stink of chlorine after a shower!

I wasn't really sure where to put this...but I've only just noticed within the last week or so that whenever I have a shower at home I can smell chlorine on my skin. I don't swim often (sensitive skin that flares up with too much chlorine contact, explaining the outbreaks of spots I've had recently!) so it's definitely from the shower.

Is it normal to have such a strong chlorine smell from the shower? It's a rented house and the shower is ancient.

It is nothing to do with the shower and everything to do with the water. Ring your water board for advice.

Thanks special, I've now contacted the water board and am awaiting their response!

Ours smelt like that often, and when I'd run a bath for the kids you could see the colour looked like a swimming pool. But we were living abroad and the water came from a lake not far from the house via a treatment place where they had to add chlorine to make it meet safety standards.

Is there a water tank in the loft? Or two?

I agree. It's got nothing to do with the shower but rather the water.

The water companies routinely vary the amount of chlorine they use depending on the microorganisms present in the water. If there are more germs, they use more chlorine to make sure the water is safe enough.
