What's Adlington in Chorley like to live?

We are thinking of moving area due to work, has anyone lived/lives in Adlington who would like to give me your opinion.

Chorley on the whole is quite a nice area. Easily accessible for other towns too. Lots of woodland type areas nearby too if you're into that.

Thanks, yes we are looking for somewhere with amenities and nice places to walk and good primary schools.

I disagree, I think Chorley as a whole is awful. The town centre is miserable. We lived there for 6 months, very central, and couldn't wait to move away. Its quite deprived. Some of the villages are OK, I don't know Adlington, but I'd say the further out from Chorley the better.

Hello, I’m hoping to activate this old thread for additional feedback. I’m in the same position as the OP, currently renting a flat in Salford but looking to relocate back to Lancs to somewhere that has good transport links by rail & motorway to Manchester.

Have friends & family in Lostock & the Bromley Cross area of Bolton. Apologies in advance to any Boltoners in the group but while I would like to be close enough to them to join them for walks ‘up Rivi’ I want to keep a good distance from Bolton. Can anyone provide any further information on Adlington, Horwich & Euxton?

Hello, Adlington is a nice place to live, it’s quiet. But close enough drive to Chorley Town Centre and Middlebrook. The public transport isn’t as often as Salford, there is a train station which goes to Manchester/blackpool once an hour. There is a bus usually every 10 minutes to Chorley or Bolton, however is at the top of Adlington near Anderton. At least 20/25 minutes walk if you live in Lower Adlington. There are 2 parks for children in Adlington and a small library. Good primary schools. secondary schools are in Chorley Town Centre there are school buses. Nice canal walks. To join for walks up rivi it’s not as close as Horwich so we usually drive to get nearer to rivi. If you need to know anything else happy for you to ask.

Thank you so much Susannah for your detailed reply. My child is a young adult and has flown the nest so schools aren’t something I need to consider these days. A nice place to live that’s quiet sounds idyllic after the hustle and bustle of city life.

How have you found it living in salford?

Just started considering a move to Manchester - Salford in particular by Langworthy road or Eccles or Hulme.
Property seems cheaper there 😩

I’ve absolutely loved it, my place is on the River Irwell so I guess I’m in the city centre. I would be staying here but my family & close friends are back in Lancashire hence looking to move ‘back home’ just not to Bolton.
