Southerners - talk to me about (recent) costs of your new bathrooms!

Trying to work out if we've got enough equity left over in house move to do ours. In South, small(ish) bathroom with shower over bath but would need totally new shower as it's not electric or power atm, very old. Needs complete refit floor to ceiling and new suite.

Would love to hear some costs from others recently just for inspiration? Thanks!

My new bathroom in se London was 6k and incuded new suite, tiling, floor, replastering and some rewiring.
All the extras added up like pipes, towel radiator, grouting, tile edging etc.
I reckon with labour it would be hard to do it for much less than 3.5-4 k.

£3.5k but that was with me sourcing everything myself from Ebay, etc and we already had a pump for the shower

Friends in central London just had a normal smallish bathroom done. Nice, but like standard items nice not 'designer'. Cost £5k.

What's typical labour cost for a total bathroom (small) refit in the London area these days?

Ours started yesterday and now we have bare brick ..!!.
will cost £2500 labour..tiler will be separate...London borough..and will take about 2 weeks ... size 2.4 x 2.2m ish ...hope that helps

Small bathroom, shower over bath, complete refit but cheap suit /tiles/ floor for just over £4000

In the South. Small bathroom. Cheapest (Labour £1700 (only hand held
shower and only fit of floor/tiles not supply. With the cheapest suite
proper shower over and good taps would bring it to a min £2750.
Other quotes much more at least £3,500.

Advice : any electric work costs ££ss so avoid things like underfloor
heating.

Mine was £6.5k for a small bathroom but it wasn't a straight in and out job - I had the layout changed completely which added a lot of time to the labour bill. That was early 2015.

2015: we did a small bathroom with new white suite inc quite expensive choice of shower (over bath), retiled, new tiled floor, decorating. south.
£5k inc all work etc.
I would choose your suite carefully, i noticed you can pay twice as much for stuff that is basically the same but from a more expensive shop. Well i suppose that is true of everything in life really.

oops, forgot to mention ours included taking down a stud wall between old toilet and shower room to make into one room.

Looks like we should be ok then as I was thinking around 5-6k and not planning to change layout, just completely new tiles / suite / floor and new shower unit put in. Only trouble is I don't really like a lot of the 'standard' suites (desperately wanted a freestanding bath but sincerely doubt there will be space) and want plenty of storage packed in.

The post stating theirs is taking 2 weeks made me think holy moo - if it's your only bathroom (which ours is) how do you stay clean for 2 weeks?!

Ha ha ....luckily we have a loo downstairs ,and my sons shower at gym and work .I have to make do with wash at the kitchen sink not brilliant in this weather ! But had no complaints so far. Plasterer is coming Saturday. It soon all goes up and may well be done before then ....I'm definitely getting in my lovely new shower first !!

I renovate houses for a living. Currently doing three bathrooms in three separate properties - 2 small, one large. Tiler labour for floor to ceiling metro in two colours incl all grout, adhesive is £850 small bathrooms, £1300 large. You possibly won't need too much plastering depending upon what surface the tiles are coming off and if the ceiling needs plastering because you are putting in down lights etc. I would allow £250 labour for tile removal, £400-500 for plumber labour if a straightforward refit I.e w/c in the same place etc.electrician costs will depend upon how much work you need. If it's just a light fitting replacement no more than 1/2 day's labour £100, possibly 1-1.5 days if down lights are required. Cost of tiles, sanitary ware is subjective depending upon your taste but it's possible to spend less than £500 for a good quality w/c, steel bath, sink with vanity unit, taps and shower fitting. More if you intend a separate bath and shower. Just shop around and remember you don't have to buy everything from the same supplier. Taps might be cheaper elsewhere. Your main consideration should be what you will do whilst you have no shower or loo whilst it's all going on if this is your only bathroom. Hope that helps!

Sorry just read you are plastering. Important to decide now if you are tiling all or part of your bathroom as the finish will differ. The plasterer should aim to make the room as square as possible so that the tiles sit nicely.

Pradaqueen...we have 300 x600 tiles going up ..all the same on floor and ceiling and bath panel ...would you think brick bond design or just square on top of each other ...I'm thinking brick bond with a similar grout colour (very pale grey ) not white grout even on walls ....thanks for advice

Sorry jigster, busy site day! 30x60 tiles I would place on top of each other directly so that they are stacked like 60cm bars not 30cm tall oblongs. That make sense? I think that look is most current. Post a pic when you are done!

Way too much to think about - I'm hoping whoever does our bathroom will source the materials and advise on design for us

Well all finished now ! Took 4 weeks in the end waiting for carpenter,tiler etc ! Very pleased with it .

I'm trying to organise sorting out a new bathroom. Unfortunately the sink units all look so tacky - I'm not sure where to start.

Everything was bought at a large trade counter (didn't need to be tradesman) we got a big discount as well ..the large tiles are called New York ..I'll photo the box .
The mosaics we fell in love with ,when they catch the light they are blues,greens,purples etc
