As a temporary fix can we cover cracked ensuite tiles with Lino

Just that really.

We have moved into new property and renovating the ensuite next year. Some current tiles are cracked
And a couple are broken however we are needing a quick fix for now both in terms of speed and cost.

What would our options be? Have been quoted 600 to retile the ensuite and 550 to lay down linoleum! Problem is that the room will be reconfigured next year so flooring will need to be taken up again

Suggestions gratefully appreciated

I'd say it's about 1.3m squared maximum

Can't you just buy a offcut of Lino and lay yourselves, with underlay if needs be. Iirc our ensuite similar size cost less than £30 and just had to trim around radiator pipes and toilet. Then used silicone to seal edges.

Can you regrout the cracks? Or just live with it?

How bad are the cracks? Is it tiles falling off territory or just a bit cracked?

If it is in relatively good shape of course you can cover it with something - lino or vinyl tiles would seem the obvious thing.

If it is really bad, then you should probably take off the tiles, and then lay the lino or vinyl on the floor underneath.

We would live with it ourselves but we axtaully need to rent the property out for a year - long story but we won't be living in it during this time and really need to rectify in some way for the tenant who will move in. Do you think covering with lino as described above would work? Worried about the refurbished floor

Yep, you can. We have in our main only bathroom as we ran out of cash during the refurb and it's been fine for 2 years. Your quote sounds massively high though. We got the guys that were fitting our carpet to lay an off cut of Lino. It took about 20 mins and cost about £70. They did it when they fitted the carpet though, so that may have made a cost difference. Maybe get another quote.

Btw, I can't remember what ours is covering. It's quite bumpy underneath but looks fine and is very easy to clean. I can't be bothered changing it yet as it's also warmer than tiles to walk on.

Sadly we have received 2 different quotes with very simIar figures and I'm shocked at the cost frankly. It's SE London/Croydon borders so was not expecting Kensington prices!

Vinyl tiles will be much easier to lay than Lino and if you make a mistake cutting one, you can just bin it. It'll be fine as a bodge for a year.

Google quickstep a good lvt that you can put over pretty much everything I think and frontline bathrooms do an lvt flooring that doesn't need underlay. Score and snap and easy to lay.

As a last resort could I Carpet over the tiles? Appreciate that it's a bit

Can't you restick the tiles down and grout over the cracked bits so they aren't sharp? A pot of tile glue/grout is not that expensive. May need to be restick down before link is laid over anyway

Tile it yourself or replace the broken tiles. It is not that hard. I've done it lots. Watch some YouTube's.
