I'm having a new large a shower built in an alcove and was wondering what these were like. I was thinking of having them on the 3 walls instead of tiles.

Was it hard to find someone to fit them?

Have they worn well - seals/limescale/scratches?

Can you fix anything into them? Eg the shower or any shelves/caddy things

I really hate cleaning grouting so am looking for any alternatives.

Thanks

I had a wet room/shower room done 2 years ago. We have wetwall on all the walls and ceiling. And Its been great- hardly a mark, just a quick wipe down. I have shower caddies that sucker onto the wall that have proved very good, surprisingly!.
Our shower is a mixer one ( Mira) from a hot water tank in the ceiling ( and the room is downstairs) so the taps and head are all fixed to the outside walls, through the wet wall.
I also have a shower seat fixed through the wetwall to the outside wall.
All working well so far

Thanks - I hadn't heard of that one - one more to add to the list!

No, but watching this with interest as we're thinking of doing so soon. I actually called to dp to ask if he was "reup" as we could have written this op!

We have wetwall installed in a wet room and are very pleased with it. No grout! It's all still firmly sealed and easy to clean. The colour was not my choice, but then it's not my wet room, and I'd say that the more jolly colours look better than the "marble" patterns (or more to my taste) but in terms of practicality I'd definitely use it again. Want to see a photo?

Mine is in a very dark , small room , so we put in white sparkle - it reflects every bit of light, really pleased with it

Can't answer for the op, but I would love to see a photo please!

I didn't know if you wanted one of mine, but here it is! - This is without lights on, and the window is smallish, and looks out onto a brick wall. I have a mirror to help with extra light reflection as well - sorry for the junk in there - didn't realise it would be seen in the reflection :)

Thank you - it looks great.

Does anyone have an opinion on plain white panels?

Op - very sorry to hijack your thread - I hope my questions are also useful to you!

Thanks everyone - the more the merrier!

Did you have problems getting people to install it? Were they general builders or tilers?

Thanks

We did all the research as we knew what we wanted, and what was feasible/available, and then got a general kitchen and bathroom man to quote. He did get in a specialist for the flooring, ( someone he already knew) as its basically a wet room - I do have a glass shower screen though, as its so small, I didn't want the toilet seat to get wet !( Oh - and an electrician for the lighting).

We have mermaid board.. It's incredibly easy to clean and still looks good after 10 years..

IAmcuriousyellow · 31/05/2016 10:24

Sorry about poor quality pics - also it's a small room!

Him we are in the process of having one installed
We went for shower wall from Jewsons and opted for the linear white which is Matt with a slight texture as well as white trim as didn't want anything too shiny as having painted tongue and groove.
We have had our Chippy install it and I believe it was very straight forward
They vary loads in prices but this was the one we liked as well as being very reasonable compared to some.

Apologies not the best pics
