Can I take out a bit of skirting?

I need 2cm for dd's furniture to fit along one wall, the skirting is about 1.7cm so I was thinking on taking a section out at each end to make it fit.

Is that possible? It's wood, glossed and looks very attached. The thinking is we'd re attach before we come to sell if that would be possible. Can anyone give me any tips before I buy a saw and try to rip it off with fork

You may find in trying to get it off you rip of the plaster from the lower part of the wall. I certainly did when I removed mine to put flooring down and then put the skirting back on.

You may find the plaster does not go to the floor and you have an ugly dusty bricky gap

Thank you, i managed to find a fix in the end. Dd is in the box room so her cot is lengthways along a wall and the kallax wouldn't quite fit lengthways along the same wall. I found some leg things in dh's tool box and attached these to the bottom of the kallax and so it stood from wall to cot. Had to squeeze it in but looks much better and safer than stood up!
