Finding a place to rent at a reasonable price

Thinking of moving out of my sisters' place with my 14yr old son as we need our own private space, but rent is high around here. Don't know where to start looking for low rent prices. Did a search online and the rent is 1,300 a month! any suggestions?

Are you entitled to housing benefit? You need to find out...also, private rentals as opposed to agency rentals are cheaper because there aren't fees to consider.

What area is it?

Hi maisiewaysie - we're going to move this over to our Property/DIY topic for you.

first, go read the how to rent booklet on gov.uk, too many on here are utterly clueless about their rights and responsibilities as tenants.

don't rent a dump from a crook.

prices are supply and demand for areas, same as sale prices are.

As you have a dependent child I would go to your Local Council
