Has anyone had theirs removed recently? We're thinking of getting ground floor and first floor removed but due to where we live the stacks have to remain, just looking for a ballpark figure.

As a one-off job, around 2K plus VAT. You'll also need building control sign-off so there's a fee for that. There are a couple of companies who specialise and can provide the drawing needed for building control (the steel). It is incredibly messy and you'll need loads of protection to stop the soot damaging your house/furniture. You also need party wall, actually, which is yet more cost. That said, it can free up a lot of space.

We paid £1500 to have the fire place and chimney breast taken out in the kids bedroom. SE London. Nothing structural required.

We're end terrace and the chimney breasts aren't on the shared wall so thankfully won't need a party wall agreement.

Would either of you recommend the company you used? Were south London.
