Cost of house removal to new house?

Hi,

Need a company to take our furniture/boxes to new house 3 bedroom a company have quoted us £120.

That seems really cheap?

Any body have any idea of prices. I'd be happy with that but seems to good to be true lol. First time moving so I'm a little naive lol

If you are doing your own packing/unpacking and supplying your own boxes, plus you are not moving a great distance, then it sounds like it might be ok. It might also be a quiet time for them, as peak season for moving gets into gear after Easter, usually. Oh, and moving on a day that isn't Friday helps too, so I am told.

I would check that everything is fully insured for that price though.

that is very cheap indeed, even for round the corner. Are they members of any trade association? Are they insured?

is this a quote for a cheap full-house burglary? It isn't totally unknown...

Insanely cheap. I paid £1400 to move from a 3 bed last year (no packing or boxes) - just filling the van and moving a mile away

I'm in London, but we're paying five times that for our forthcoming move. And we have very little furniture (a LOT of boxes, though).
DH does a bit of white van man work when other work is a bit thin on the ground, and he reckons a man with a van and a helper, in London, would cost you between £60 and £90/hour - OK, that's quite a wide range, but some people do undercharge a bit, some overcharge. I'd be a bit cautious, to be honest.
(DH not doing our move because his back isn't really up to a full day of box shifting, in case anyone was wondering...!)

I move on Friday and am getting charged 50ph+ vat for 2 men and a huge van from an extremely popular removals company. south east

Just to be clear, DH's back-of-the-envelope figure was inc. VAT (so the lower end of his estimate is roughly in line with Fedora's, though perhaps inner London,. which is mostly where he works, carries a premium...)
