applying copper sheet to top of wood kitchen trolley...?

Have acquired an ikea bekvam kitchen trolley, thought it might look nice with the bottom painted and copper sheet put on the top (not foil, thick enough to withstand it being used as occasional work surface)

Has anyone done similar, any tips on where / what thickness of sheet to get, how to do it etc.?

We will hopefully be doing our kitchen renovation soon, and have thought about copper counter tops.

Don't have any practical advice, but going to keep an eye on this. It sounds like it will look wonderful.
