What would be a reasonable price for 7 windows and french doors?

Had someone around today to measure up. The windows are a fair size, a couple are small, want the ones mainly with the little window opening at the top and probably 2 fire ones upstairs. Also have french doors.

What would you say would be a reasonable price? It's a localish firm and we aren't in London so not crazy prices. In our last house we paid £2800 for 6 smallish windows and a front door by a large national firm, I beat them down on price. Local company said their prices are the price and they don't do the whole haggling 'let me see what I can do' thing.

Depends what you are having them made in. We just paid £600 each for UPVC windows and £1000 for a large accoya wood mock sash (supplied and fitted) so it varies. I think you got a good deal at your last place, we paid $4000 for those windows and a custom made top of the range hardwood door, surround and etched glass 'half moon' glass above.

Just paid £1500 for French doors plus an extra pane as original opening is massive. Got all the windows done 8 years ago for £2800, 4 6ft, 3 5ft and a small one, but done by my cousin so a good price. I'd expect to pay at least £6k for the same job now.

We paid £3000 for four largish Windows and French doors with a window panel either side of the doors. All A grade insulation values.

I would say approx 5000. We paid 5000 for 5 large windows, French doors and a composite front door, and you have extra windows and no front door.

We've been quoted £6k for 4 large windows, 4 small, french doors and front door.

Thanks. I certainly won't be expecting too much then. We did get a good dal, last time but it was Safestyle and whilst we found them really good I've since read reviews that have made me think twice about using them again. The bloke today said he used to work for them and said it very much depended on the fitters you got from them as to whether a good job was done.

Are you getting UPVC? We paid 10k for seven hardwood DG sashes in 2014. Small local joinery co in SW. French doors were another £900 but we sourced those separately, ditto the windows for the extended kitchen which were bespoke and cost around 4k thanks to our architect and his flowery ideas.....

It is upvc and includes new windowsills. Quote has come back at £3800. Quite happy with that.

I have non standard hardwood window frames in fairness, but we need to replace DG units in several, and they need maintenance. We are being quoted up to £1250 per window to refurb. They are five panels and nine feet wide by five feet. Is that daft?

we've just paid £6500 for 14 upvc windows, french doors to garden and composite front door with side panels. Installation was a dream but we have used a local company and not a national big one.
