PigletJohn and boiler clever people - cost of a new CH system?

Hi, just had a quote for a new CH system - new boiler, new pipes, moving some copper piping to under the floorboards and a magnaclean and new radiators - £9,600.

How does that sound (apart from blimmin' expensive?) in terms of value? It's a long established company and includes a guarantee.

At the moment, the house we've just bought (a two bed house from 1900, in London) has no working boiler and was apparently badly fitted throughout.

Are we about to get ripped off if we go ahead? We may need a home improvement loan to pay for part of it. The guy said the cheaper option (new boiler and pipes) may cost us more in the long term as the wrong size piping has been installed throughout and the magnaclean is in the wrong place.

Needless to say, I'm totally clueless about costs. Help!

No idea how much it costs, but I know it is very expensive.

Can't help you, but for the person who will it might be helpful if you say the size of your house/number of floors, how many radiators you need.

I think the best is to get multiple quotes and make sure that the people that make them explain them to you properly (the cheapest way is not always the best).

We paid £3k for just a new boiler (to service a three story house) plus £500 to replace one radiator so depending how many radiators you need your quote including all the extras may not be that bad. I would ask for the quote to be split into labour and parts and ask how many people and how many days the job will take and then get two other comparative quotes.

Thanks so much for your advice! It's three downstairs radiators and two upstairs, total floor space is about 750 sq feet I think.
