Is it me or is the shower at the end of the bed in this flat?

Tiny wee studio flat in London.
I'm sure that it's a shower cubicle squeezed in at the end of the bed there.

Yep, my house isn't even worth 6 figures. And it's a bit small for 4 of us, but a lovely little home, with yard, garden, loads of parking etc. Makes seeing flats like this particularly eye-popping.

I could buy this for less than the second one. It's lovely.

What's a demised vault and is it good to have 3 of them?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 15/10/2015 23:13

Love the fact that you can check how many schools are in the local area - you couldn't have a hamster in that place let alone a child!

Pipbin · 15/10/2015 23:16

A demised vault is something you get opposite a basement flat that is actually under the pavement. I believe that demised means that you own it.

That first one is basically what was the caretaker's shed isn't it? Imagine taking a shower with the headlights beaming in as the neighbours park up.

Fucking hell. Close on 200k for a shed in a really shitty bit of London. Grim. I suppose the upside is that it will take the pressure off schools if no one with children can afford to live there any more

TremoloGreen · 16/10/2015 00:46

Crikey, the wiring and plumbing in the shed look... interesting. I love that the EA went to the trouble to do a floorplan. Probably charged the parking attendant owner £200 for that.

There was a thread recently where a number of people who bought in London ages ago and had enough time to save up deposits when rents were lower, were banging on about London not being that expensive.

This is a classic example of how wrong they are! I can't see how my DC's will ever be able to buy or rent in the area they are growing up in.

Trills · 16/10/2015 08:55

The "studio flat" is ridiculous, but that's really not a shitty bit of London.

LumelaMme · 16/10/2015 09:10

And no need for the shower in the living space anyway.
My thoughts exactly. Move the loo door towards the front door and make a wet room.

I also love how the description says it is 'floored with light'. The EA was either trying to be poetic, or missed the 'd' and hit the 'r'.

LyndaNotLinda · 16/10/2015 10:18

I know it's very fashionable now Trills. But I still think it's horrible :)

specialsubject · 16/10/2015 10:18

we know that people rent beds in sheds, and it needs to be stopped.

anyone buying this needs their head examined.

Pipbin · 16/10/2015 20:17

I cannot see why anyone would entertain this. As I said, I don't think that you could even get a mortgage on it.

WTF is a demised vault?

PeterParkerSays · 16/10/2015 20:30

How have they got that combination of spot lights and shower / steam approved for safe use?

eurochick · 16/10/2015 20:36

Bethnal Green might be fashionable, but it is still stabby.

wowfudge · 16/10/2015 20:42

Demised vault - some sort of cellar chamber which is part of the title to the 'flat'.

BetaTest · 16/10/2015 20:43

I once stayed in a hotel (with DW) that had a bed designed for a threesome, three showers, two baths and a leather bound rocking horse - all in the same room!

Pipbin · 16/10/2015 20:55

Basement flats that have front railings like this, will have storage vaults below the pavement. Therefore they aren't actually in the flat, or even attached to it. Demised means that they are included in the deeds.
I used to have one in a flat I lived in.

Cheap for a detached home in London though.

Tarzanlovesgaby · 16/10/2015 22:41

you could convert the attic.
the bayswater one looks depressing
