Leafleting houses in a street where I would like to buy ?

Sorry I know this has been done before, but I am wondering if it is worth while leafleting in the road where we would like to buy? We have just lost out on a lovely house and I wanted to put flyers through the letter boxes of the other houses in the street to see if anybody is interested in selling. If I do this, should i write them by hand or just photo copy them ? Thanks for any advice .

I tried this earlier this year (May), targeting 7 houses. I had a phone call within two minutes of posting the leaflet through the first house. They asked why I thought they were selling so I explained that it was just a speculative letter, how I liked the area, and how I had got the idea from Mumsnet. They said they would call me back if they were interested, which they did a couple of days later. We arranged a viewing, at the end of which we agreed a price and shook hands. I started proceedings with the mortgage, surveyor etc. However a couple of days later they called to say they had it valued and it was 20-25K more than we had agreed. Unfortunately that was just too much for my budget, and it did need some work doing, so I withdrew from the process and wished them the best with any future sale.

People do it in my street regularly.
It's a lovely road.
I plan to sell in the next 18 months

Definitely worth doing. Pretty common here for nice period houses. The best houses are usually sold without ever coming on to a RightMove or Other websites.

I know of people that have done it, purely for schools. I don't know how successful they were though.
