I've bought a Bosch tumble dryer in currys that's listed as stackable

I emailed Bosch to ask if this meant I needed a stacking kit or that it just sat on the washer

They replied saying it's only stackable with a lot but only stackable on top of a Bosch washer???

Are they lying?? We've got a zanussi washer dryer, the dryer part is rubbish hence the new tumble dryer but no reason to replace the washing machine

Lot = kit

Sounds a bit odd.

If it's stackable with a kit (and therefore done safely), surely the brand of the washer below makes no difference. Only the size.

We have a washer + dryer of different brands stacked safely with a kit of yet another make.

Google suggests they are talking nonsense.

I have an AEG dryer stacked on top of a Samsung washing machine using the AEG stacking kit. It's fine.

the Bosch stacking kit is made to fit all Bosch washers and all Bosch driers, and the screw-holes to fit it are in the right places, so I suppose Bosch can't say it would fit other brands.

I think I have seen universal stacking kits in Currys or somewhere, I presume they don't screw together. They are much more common in US and Canada.

Ah so I just need a universal kit?

They said I'd need to buy a new washing machine

We got one of these and have stacked an AEG tumble dryer on a Siemens washing machine with no problems. Well, the removal men stacked it Grin.

We did have to take the feet of the dryer for it to fit on.

We had a shelf put in to put the tumble dryer on - cheaper than the sacking kit as we used an off cut of worktop and some battlns on the wall

A universal kit should do the trick, surely?

Ours doesn't have any screws in it. It has a big belt thing that goes around the dryer (sounds awful but it's not obvious or anything). All very stable. The kit thing has a pull-out shelf which is really handy for putting a washing basket on when unloading the dryer.

Just be careful when choosing the kit, as the sales guy warned me when I was deciding, if your dryer has a low-set door on the front (eg for cleaning the lint filter, like mine does) then make sure the kit you get doesn't block you from opening the door IYSWIM.

I think this is the one I've got Amazon link, it works just fine. Obviously it depends on your machine specs etc etc.
