Anyone fancy sharing the cost of their built in wardrobes?

Just that really - we're having a loft extension and we will be asking the builder to quote three built in wardrobes. Nothing fancy, probably fairly simple MDF interior with possibly a painted wooden door. I'm just trying to get my budget sorted and I've no idea how much to allow.

I'm curious how much other people have paid for similar work, particularly in London.

Me too .. jumping on to be nosy and compare cost against normal stuff.

Not in London. We had a built in cupboard (2 doors, with hanging rail and shelving) in box room built over the "box", by a local carpenter/joiner, so a bit more skill involved/needed. Costs were around £300 for the materials and time plus another £80 for ready made doors (Ikea). HTH

We had 3.5m of fitted wardrobes and drawers put into an alcove (about 1.2m high getting smaller as you go back) in our loft bedroom. Two double doored wardrobes with rails, and 5 IKEA drawers in the middle. For the installation and painting white we paid almost £600 to a local joiner. Sharps quoted us over £3,500 for the same job, but they would have 'lined' the cupboards (whereas our joiner just did the front - because we have an old house we couldn't have had it 'lined' anyway as our walls aren't straight!)

Thanks - that helps!

£4000 for a floor to ceiling lined three doors with shelves and hanging rails, solid wood. Local carpenters.

We did ours ourself, bought 4 sliding doors, runners and sensor lights. Then built the interior to suit with ikea algorithm system. Looks fab, cost a max of £400. And a couple of hours work!

Quite a wide range! Thanks - food for thought...

3 whole wardrobes (so 6 doors: 2 of which were mirrored) full height £1500 - about 7 or 8 years ago.

3 double door wardrobes, with hanging rails only - £2000. But the quotes ranged from £490 to £3500! I went with a carpenter who made some good points about using the space well (it was an awkward space).
