Good luck cat. It must be a good brochure if it's making you love the house. Grin

3 miles of inconvenient walks to school is a long time.

Rowgtfc72 · 20/02/2016 07:50

Step, we've had the solicitors good to go for the last ten days. He tells our estate agent he can complete in two weeks. Searches take six days so its feasibly possible.... My solicitor just laughed.

Good luck catSmile

Rowgtfc72 · 20/02/2016 10:26

Just opened the curtains- sold sign has gone up this morning.

JT05 · 20/02/2016 11:15

You must be pleased Row, hope it all goes smoothly.

Savagebeauty · 20/02/2016 14:22

The couple who viewed yesterday want a second look next week. Fingers crossed.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/02/2016 15:51

Our sold sign still isn't up, and we're not on RM yet.

I've just shown two sets of viewers round and I'm waiting for the last one today. However, the dishwasher just started making an extremely loud and worrying sound. I've managed to stop it by turning it off at the plug and I'll see if I can get it working after these viewers come round.

The first couple had a wee boy with them, and they seemed to like it. They were measuring things and talking about sideboards etc, but I don't think they'll buy it. The husband asked me about where a downstairs loo could go, and they seemed to think they could get one in under the stairs using the larder cupboard as an entrance, but I'd imagine they'll just buy something with a downstairs loo already.

The second couple seemed to really like it. They've sold their house buy the house they were going to buy fell through, so they're looking to move quickly. They were super positive, but who knows really. I'd imagine everyone feels they have to be nice about your house when you're showing them round.

Rowgtfc72 · 20/02/2016 16:00

Thanks JT05. I'm just waiting for something to go wrong now!

Step, we had lots of buy to let people round. Theyre easier to deal with asking you to show them the problems up front, boiler and gas fire info. They don't hang around and are to the point.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/02/2016 16:21

Argh. I think the house is conspiring against me. While the last set of people were in the radiator started making a weird noise (having never done this before). They seemed to like it but now they'll be thinking about dodgy heating systems (and it generally isn't dodgy, which is annoying).

Oh well.

Clockstooticky · 20/02/2016 20:39

Good luck with second viewings and wonky plumbing everyone! We're officially back on right move and have 9 viewings tomorrow which I'm having to do. Bit of a nightmare but needs must!

JT05 · 20/02/2016 21:35

Nine viewings sounds good.
I suspect we'll be joining you back on RM next week.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/02/2016 22:04

9 viewings sounds like good news. I hope they go well.

The most annoying thing is that the plumbing noises stopped immediately after the viewers left and the bloody dishwasher appears to be working completely fine. The house is definitely conspiring against me!

We should be on RM early next week too.

Clockstooticky · 20/02/2016 22:32

Step that is so annoying! Stupid house... It's upset because it loves you.

Jt, it's pretty depressing. I'm sure we'll sell. I'm just nervous that it won't be quick and our vendors will go back on the market. Half the reason they went with us was that we were going into rented so would be flexible...

Savagebeauty · 20/02/2016 22:50

9 viewings!! Wow, good luck with those.
I am hoping I get some more next week.

lavendersun · 21/02/2016 11:01

This thread is stressful Smile. Step, that is funny isn't it. JT, I hope not.

I am not sure what is happening on our house sale at the minute, it has all gone a bit quiet. I do wonder when local conveyancing solicitors will wake up and enter the current age. "File in dictation with queries to the seller's solicitor". When I worked in the City very few people dictated anything, we all wrote our own emails and our time cost a lot more than a local conveyancing solicitor!

Anyway, our sale seems to be taking forever but we have secured the rental property we wanted and are planning on moving in 2-3 weeks regardless.

We will have to curb our spending habits until our current house sells but will be fine, even in the short term. We have all 'moved on' from here already. I am sorting things out for the dump this morning, movers coming to quote in the next couple of days. Have applied for a school place, lots going on.

I have cancelled two holidays that we had booked later on just in case our house doesn't sell, leaving only one long weekend atm but we are moving somewhere incredibly beautiful so it won't kill us.

We will all be out of the other side of this nightmare eventually!

JT05 · 21/02/2016 12:24

Sorry you cancelled your holiday Lavender , you probably will need one!

I think solicitors are busy prioritising BTLs at the moment to meet the tax deadline.

I think I'll get on to the removal firms for quotes next week and hope I'm not jinxing anything!

lavendersun · 21/02/2016 12:54

That is probably right JT.

If our sale goes through we can re-book something 'proper'. If it doesn't we will be camping on our new doorstep in North Yorkshire I suspect.

Yes, do it, I am going to, they might be busy.

Rowgtfc72 · 21/02/2016 17:54

JT05, hope the solicitors areGrin

Were away in may for two weeks, booked last August and entirely dependant on our house selling to pay the balance on April 6th. This is cutting it a little too fine!

Nine viewings sounds excellent progress, much easier to do them all at once but requiring much wine afterwards.

paddingtonbear1 · 21/02/2016 18:32

Hi all! Our move went smoothly :) We are now getting used to the new house! After first putting our old house on the market last June, we are finally here. Still lots of boxes to unpack, it will take weeks to get straight I think. I will keep my fingers crossed for the rest of you still going through the tortuous process!

Clockstooticky · 21/02/2016 18:53

So one person didn't show up, and one guy stayed about 45 minutes in the house, and didn't leave even when others turned up. Then he sat on the driveway for another 30 minutes and kept knocking on the door.

Lots of lovely people though. Hopefully we'll get some offers tomorrow.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 21/02/2016 19:07

That was odd. Why did he sit in your driveway?

JT05 · 21/02/2016 19:26

Pleased for you Paddington hope you enjoy your new home. Flowers.

Clockstooticky · 21/02/2016 20:05

Don't know step. It was so so weird! He also walked into the house and took his kid to the loo for a poo... Gross.

notarehearsal · 22/02/2016 08:10

Well the day has finally arrived. Just waiting for removal company and by this afternoon I'll be in my new home after almost 20 years here. Haven't slept a wink last night as am excited, scared and emotional all at once. Onwards and upwards to my new life and wishing everyone else every good wish for successful moves

notarehearsal · 22/02/2016 08:33

And can I urgently ask please is it the done thing to give the movers a tip? If so how much? Looks like there are five of them

paddingtonbear1 · 22/02/2016 08:50

Hope your move goes smoothly notarehearsal. Not sure about tips, I've moved several times over the years and have never given any.
Good luck in your new home :)
