White floor in a kitchen - tell me it's madness

The house we are buying has a large kitchen diner 7m x 4m.

It's quite dark though as it goes back quite deeply in to the house iyswim...

So, I've seen lots of lovely kitchens online with white floors. I love them.

Talk me out of this please. Clearly a white floor is ridiculous.

If you only ever ate porridge and rice and other white things you could get away with it. Yoghurt? I'm running out of white food.

I too have seen white floors and thought they looked lovely. But it could never work.

What about creamy limestone type tiles? That would be light but wouldn't show up every mark as they are mottled/flecked etc.
Plus it's a matt surface and won't show water marks

The key to having an easily maintainable pale tiled floor is to make sure the tiles are matte/textured/mottled etc. Anything shiny/glossy/flat white will show up every crumb, smear or speck of dust. And don't have white grout as it discolours where people walk; go for a pale grey or beige.

We have a cream tiled floor in our kitchen, applied these rules, and it's absolutely fine.

I have very pale floors and it is a total pita. I chose the tiles so can't blame anyone - every fleck of dust and fingerprint shows and it drives me batty every day, especially in summer when the doors are constantly open. The small people have to abide by a very very strict indoor/outdoor shoe policy and still I have to sweep/mop at least daily in good weather. Never again! I think it is the lack of grain as much as the colour that's so issue. I now covet a slate floor.

But, it is a lovely light kitchen!

Complete madness. We have a white tiled floor in a small en-suite shower room and that is bad enough. Thankfully we sensibly used dark tiles everywhere else, including the kitchen.

I have a white tiled bathroom floor, it was my most stupid house related decision to date. It looks clean for about 5 minutes per week.

I would never do it anywhere again.
