Best area around Newcastle near a Metro station

I am looking to purchase a house (rather than a flat) around Newcastle. Must be within walking distance to a Metro station as I have to travel to work in Jesmond everyday.

Originally set my sights on Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, Jesmond and Gosforth but all out of my budget. Where is next best place for a young professional?

Thank you

Another vote for Benton / Four Lane Ends.

Thank you so much for all the links!!

I would rather have a house than a flat as I've lived in flats for 5 years as a student now and just want 2 floors to myself! Don't want to have to carry shopping upstairs or have to go downstairs to hang washing out.
Also don't want noisy people living above or below me! I've looked at loads of flats now and none have taken my fancy.
Thanks again for all the advice x

I'd say North Shields as well, you get loads for your money and there are some really nice areas (maybe avoid Meadow Well though, no offence to anyone!).
I don't know much about Pelaw but I swear there are constant problems with metros around there!

I'm in South Shields, we got a 3 bed semi with sea views for £120 couple of years ago. I commute to gosforth everyday and it's fab.

2 beds with parking www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-49481909.html

3 beds, if you go to the top of your budget www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33552882.html

Longbenton metro (but on the south Gosforth and heaton side of the metro lines not the actual Longbenton area itself, as it's horrible) is cheap and up and coming. We got our 4 bed semi with garden for 175

North Shields or Cullercoats. Cullercoats between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth and still some cheap places.. Near the Met and the sea.
