Toilet in ensuite...yay or nay

Bounced from another ensuite thread but would you prefer a tiny master ensuite to have/not have a toilet?

There would be no compromise to storage space

Yes, absolutely, yes. An en-suite needs to have a bath/shower, wash basin and toilet.

You have to have a loo in an ensuite. Otherwise there's no point. Can you make it a wet room?

We had an ensuite with a shower/sink and no toilet in one house. I found it a bit odd to begin with, but actually was quite nice.

The full bathroom was next door to the bedroom, though, so it wasn't far to the toilet anyway.

Ensuite without a loo is like a kitchen without an oven...

Just make sure that you put decent soundproofing in underneath and in the walls.

When mum was having her current house built she specified much thicker sound insulation under the upstairs toilets than is legally required. They 'forgot' to put it in (and forgot to take the extra charge off the bill Angry) and it meant that if anyone used an upstairs loo while people were downstairs (one was above the lounge, the other above the kitchen) you could hear everything really clearly which wasn't very nice. Their excuse was that she was living there by herself so it didn't matter - ignoring the fact that she had paid for it and wouldn't always be by herself. They managed to get some extra in retrospectively but not as much as there could have been so it's not as bad as it was but not great.

And it's definitely something to specify up front - easy to be done as they go along fitting it in, a pain later!

Toilet or what's the point!
We don't have an ensuite, we do have a bathroom 'wing' with 2 bathrooms in it.
The bathrooms are on the half landing and kind of have their own floor. We have a lovely big shower-room with WC for us and a family bathroom next to it with bath, shower & WC. It's slightly weird but actually works well as extract/flush at night doesn't bother anybody & we have own private space as well as a general bathroom.

Our friends bought a house with a loo-less en suite. The previous owners had wanted a bath in there so there wasn't room for a loo. If they wanted to pee they had to go to the family bathroom next to their bedroom, which had a loo. And a bath Hmm

They ripped the bath out of the en suite and replaced it with shower and loo.

I agree with pps, crazy to have an en suite with no loo.
