We have (fingers crossed) moving into a house where there was an American style fridge freezer (they are taking it with them after lengthy discussions on the subject!!) but there will obviously be space & plumbing for one so we have decided we will buy one.

Please tell me what you would/ wouldn't recommend if you already have one.
Thanks

I too have the Fisher & Paykel and it is a thing of wonder. Teenagers can grandly open both doors and graze.

And the freezer drawer is large enough for the biggest of pizzas and a mahoosive CHristmas turkey.

Love it.

17leftfeet Sounds like our one ans we've had our 10yrs.

The freezer to small and the fridge is too big.

Like the cold water/ice is great for summer.

If you put wide items in the fridge you may find that they don't fit in a side by side. We used to have one and I was relieved when we changed to a wider regular fridge.

We have one, ad it 7 years and the damn thing is still going! I won't be getting another when its gone.

The freezer is too small and don't have he water and ice dispenser the fridge is huge and I just can't keep it full so it always looks empty. The only things I like about it are the glass shelves and the way it beeps if you leave the door open

shuffle in our fisher and paykel (with the double door fridge) the freezer drawer is divided into 3 internal drawers - one deep full width drawer at the bottom and two shallower half width drawers above. One of the smaller drawers is partly taken up with ice, but that can be removed (and ice maker turned off) if you prefer.

Large pizzas fit into any of the drawers although they only just fit into the smaller drawers.

There is a bit of rummaging involved to find stuff in the bigger drawer, but tbh that's the case with any freezer - and it's much easier to rummage in one big drawer than have to open lots of little shelves/drawers to find what I'm after.

We do have a separate small freezer as well - though we do lots of batch cooking, freeze a lot of milk and bulk buy meat - if we didn't do this we could do without the other freezer I think. But it's fair to say the freezer isn't huge .

Seems as though only the Fisher and Paykal fits the bill buts it's way over budget!

Aberchips · 03/06/2014 09:58

We would have another separate freezer as well so might not be so much of a problem. I like the look of the ones with the freezer drawers, but they don't seem to have the ice machine included? I really like the idea of ice "on tap" (as it were) & chilled water - yes I'm a bit sad...

You can def get the ice dispenser with the freezer drawers because I saw that in the house we've offered on! (Still waiting for a response!)

SandyChick · 03/06/2014 11:51

We have a samsung one with water dispenser(not plumbed in type).

Never use the water dispenser!!

Our freezer is a tiny bit smaller than the fridge side. I like that it's all mainly easy accessible shelves, especially in the freezer. It's frost free too so no struggling to open drawers that have frozen shut. The freezer has compartments in the door too which is handy.

Aberchips · 03/06/2014 12:53

Ooh dotty do you know what make it was?

Fingers crossed for your offer!
