Holy cr*p- Homebase own brand paint

I'm repainting the whole house, have successfully done kitchen, sitting room & hall using Colourtrend paint.

All went well, usual tiring work but got good results...

Anyway, moving on to boys bedrooms, I decided to economise on paint, got 5l of Homebase own brand emulsion. How bad could it be I thought?

Sweet mother of J**s it's rubbish! Won't spread, won't dry, no coverage. Ive been at it since this morning & coat no 1 is still not fully dry! With the other brand, I'd cut in, then roller, and by the time I was finished I could start on the second coat

It's patchy, and every time I try to start the second coat it just lifts off the previous one.
I'm throwing in the towel, this stuff is NOT WORKING. First thing in the morning I'm off to get some Colourtrend.

I agree it's crap - the cutting in bit usually ends up a different shade to the rollered bit, just becuase it;s usually thicker and yes, dries slower.

But thye only time I ever had the 'lifting the previous coat' was on a ceiling I hadn't prepped properly. It was dusty and needed sealing. Is that likely to be the case?

I'm heading off later this week for some paint. I will leave that one on the shelf. Thanks for the heads up.

No, I prepped well with sugar soap. I covered a pretty deep sage green on my hall with a light sandy colour.. (Minimal by Colourtrend) 2 coats, no issues.

This bedroom was a pale yellow, I was repainting in a light sage green (Spring Sage by Homebase...yes I do love sage green!)

2 coats in I can still see the yellow.

I agree- cut in bits seem to be a totally different colour!

I totally agree, it's as though you can see it pulling away from the coat below, and it needed 3 coats. However, now it's done, the colour is lovely - Moonlight - but I wouldn't buy their paint again.

I'd say another coat would do it but that would require buying another can, and I'm buggered if I'm doing that!!

I'm so cross. My day is completely wasted & I don't often get a day free to do this sort of project.

Yep, I bought a Homebase Sanctuary paint, lovely colour but a bugger to apply

I found the perfect shade of duck egg in Homebase paint, our decorator nearly cried when I told him. He promised he would get the same shade but begged me not to buy the Homebase paint. He actually got a better shade in Dulux and the finish is lovely. I must say the tester was pretty crap but thought it was just me.
