Is it worth having smart expensive ones in the main downstairs rooms?
Will definitely be having cheap white plastic upstairs.

Thanks all, it's really helpful. I definitely haven't requested enough. Crabtree was the brand our electrician suggested PJ.

We had to rewire the entire house as the electrics were 40+ years old. We chose satin chrome light switches and sockets (I think they are Hamilton). We had the back box installed into the wall so we just have the flat plate showing. We like them and they coordinate with the wall colour and I am surprised by the number of house guests who have noticed and commented on them.

get the cheap plastic white ones and spend the money you 'save' on cushions or rugs that really make a difference

We changed most of ours when we bought our (80s build) house 18 months ago. Once we'd redecorated the sockets/ switches suddenly looked old and grotty, so we replaced them with nice clean white ones.

I only notice the number and location.

But then I live in Australia, land of insufficient electrical outlets.
