Am I alone in thinking it's vulgar vulgar vulgar?

I use the vulgar vulgar vulgar term in an intentionally Hyacinth way. Grin

I imagine people most watch UKIP election broadcasts on their kitchen TVs while the children have their dinner, at 6pm. Grin

Another middle class terror

LibraryBook · 27/01/2014 18:23

Interesting that so many of you who have a TV in your kitchen also have a lounge. Wink

You don't buy a lifestyle you buy a house

LRDtheFeministDragon · 27/01/2014 18:25

You might not concentrate properly on the sanctity of domestic servitude, tiara. Sad

lovingmatleave · 27/01/2014 18:31

hello Katie Hopkins

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/01/2014 18:32

Just don't have it on at mealtimes. We haven't got room for one and I don't particularly want one in this house, but if I had a big room that had a sofa in as well then I probably would. If I want to watch while I cook I use Iplayer on the Ipad.

Inertia · 27/01/2014 18:32

I don't think it's vulgar (not for me to judge) but I don't feel that we need one. That's because we have a kitchen radio, and I also use the ipad if I want to listen to the radio/ watch a TV programme through iplayer.

We don't have TV on while eating- never have- but we do always have the radio on for background music. probably also deemed vulgar but we do talk to one another.

AdaProgrammer · 27/01/2014 18:33

58 inch telly in mine. Judge away.

LibraryBook · 27/01/2014 18:37

Noddy - I agree. Of course and I have already said it's irrational. I'm just wondering how common usual it is.

You think a kitchen TV is more unacceptable than a TV in a child's room? I find that weird.
The magic thing about TVs is that they can be switched off.

Aethelfleda · 27/01/2014 18:40

We don't have a telly in ours. But there is a Sky Ariel socket from where the previous owners did.

Do the judgy-pants vibes carry on for future owners? Is my house forever..... common??

ItsATIARA · 27/01/2014 18:41

I also might compare DH unfavourably with Jeremy Paxman LRD Grin (but only with the beard)

AdaProgrammer · 27/01/2014 18:45

Hee hee. It saves me the bother of making conversation at mealtimes.

ilovedogsandcats · 27/01/2014 23:59

Tv in the front room. Perhaps in main bedroom too.

InsertUsernameHere · 28/01/2014 07:42

Tee hee - we are just putting on in our Kitchen - I've really missed it when we moved. As often is the case for me it is the function of something rather than its existence that is the point. Ours is a working kitchen - the TV is for watching standing, while cooking and cleaning and watching trashy TV instead of sitting on bottom watching trashy tv We are also having one in the utility room aka the ironing telly. Can't see the TV from the kitchen table. (Kids watching TV during tea is a special occasion in our house, picnic blankets 'n all, but each to their own). no TVs upstairs if that helps people judge Wink

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 28/01/2014 09:13

God, I so want a utility room with an ironing tv. What a great idea (sadly, I don't have room for a utility, never mind one with a tv, but still).

LibraryBook · 28/01/2014 12:27

A utility room with an ironing board would be fine as it's not a place where families convene.

JRmumma · 28/01/2014 13:04

I'm dreaming about spacious houses with utility rooms now.

Inertia · 28/01/2014 16:44

I take the ipad into the futility room when I do the ironing. (Am I vulgar for doing my own ironing rather than having staff for that sort of thing?)

Girlsbrigadewashorrible · 28/01/2014 22:25

We are hoping to have the biggest TV we can afford in our new kitchen/family room. It's going to be the Dog's when it's finished.
