Would you have a Juliette balcony or normal windows?

Am planning some works to master bedroom. It is quite a large room but currently only has a velux window to the rear. We have an option to install french doors with a Juliet balcony instead of a normal window.

Are there any downsides?

We have juliet balcony on one of our bedrooms. It's fine and I don't dislike it BUT I probably wouldn't choose to have it in a bedroom. As there is no other window in the room, it means that you can't really get any proper ventilation into the room without opening a door, which isn't great on hot summer nights especially, if like ours, it opens up on to a road, or leave it vented during the day in the summer to cool the room down. In the winter, I think it makes the room a bit colder than just having a normal window would. We have a new house, so it was part of the design, not something that we've added since. Hope that helps and isn't overly negative!!
