I can't find my stopcock.

We live in a 1930's semi. The house was extended before we bought it, an we have installed a new kitchen in the extension. I need to locate the stopcock, and from Googling I understand that it should be under the sink, but I don't think it is. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where else I should look?

ours is outside under the pavement were the meter is. (according to the seller's information, maybe check the forms from the seller)

We had a similar issue, but couldn't find it because someone had built around it! My clever DH fitted 2 new ones - one just after the street one, but inside the house, and the other between that and the kitchen, so I can isolate the whole house or just upstairs!
