Not sure if this is the right section to ask but here goes.

We are in the process of buying a converted barn in Devon, it is within a small complex of 3 others. We are considering naming it:

Honeybun
Honey Barn
Little Barn

What do you think?

Definitely not honey bun! Little barn is nice and simple Smile I'm very Envy though I would love a barn Grin

megcleary · 06/11/2012 07:10

Barney

NickNacks · 06/11/2012 07:13

Bumble Barn

SoupDragon · 06/11/2012 07:20

Little Barn. Assuming it is the littlest!

SoupDragon · 06/11/2012 07:20

Or Barnaby [arf]

herhonesty · 06/11/2012 08:22

is there a connection with bees?

nancerama · 06/11/2012 08:23

I know someone who lives in Lazy Barn. I think that's ace!

Giddygrandma · 06/11/2012 08:25

No connection with bees, just call it my grandson ........!!

Keep going good suggestions here. Thanks.

Honeybun that is!

Thistledew · 06/11/2012 08:28

Honey Pot Barn is better than Honeybun Honey Barn, if you want to keep the Honey theme.

Nivet · 06/11/2012 08:33

Is there an original name for the piece of land? Or farm that the barn was situated on?

I prefer names that refer to the original use, The Barn would be fine - but I suppose you need to differentiate from other barns. Was it a grain store or animal housing?

Giddygrandma · 06/11/2012 08:36

Yes, it was a stable, we're not keen on horses though(sorry if you are).

OP posts:
typicalvirgo · 06/11/2012 09:57

Oooh I like this game and think we can come up with something much better than Honeybun. Please do not call it this

The Gin-Gan (this is a serious name not a made up thing and has a horse connection but not obvious)

The Byre (although thats cows ?)

does it have any dominant features that could be used ?

OwlLady · 06/11/2012 10:03

I would call it The Stables then

it's not a barn if it's a stable

sorry i live in the country we get funny about this sort of thing Wink

OwlLady · 06/11/2012 10:05

honestly if you call it something barn and it was a stables, the whole world and their dog who lives up your lane will come and point out to you that it wasn't a barn it was a stable, you will also know who owned it from it's erection in whatever year it was and whose hands it passed through and any horses that live there

even unspecial memories will be brought as that's what we are like Wink

financialwizard · 06/11/2012 10:05

Bolted Horses I love horses though

OwlLady · 06/11/2012 10:05

even ghost horses, you will hear about ghost horses

you mark my words

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 06/11/2012 10:07

Bolt Hole

Prefer Barnaby of all the suggestions on here!

Giddygrandma · 06/11/2012 10:08

I know it's not right - honeybun, that's why I thought I'd come on here for choices! It's brill, you've got a lot more imagination than me.

Owllady-that was my thought about a barn being a barn. The estate agent called it a barn so it's sort of stuck. The people renovating call them cottages. Oh I'm in a pickle with it all. Perhaps we don't put barn on the end then. The Stables has always been in the back of my mind.

I'm loving the quirky names too.

NellyJob · 06/11/2012 10:10

the Old Stables? imaginative I know....

Giddygrandma · 06/11/2012 10:10

Typicalvirgo- excuse my ignorance but what's a Gin Gan? I like the sound of it though.

OP posts:
NellyJob · 06/11/2012 10:11

I knew someone that lived in an old slaughterhouse - for some reason he didn't like that as a name -

OwlLady · 06/11/2012 10:12

were there ghost cows in the slaughterhouse? or just ghost chickens?

NellyJob · 06/11/2012 10:12

well I have googled gin gan and it is too specific IMHO
link

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 06/11/2012 10:15

What are the other ones around it called?

Honeysuckle Cottage
Shell Cottage (if near the sea)
