have been house hunting for a while - mainly around the chiswick area though have recently started looking further afield due to a lack of stock on the market (looking for a 4-5 bed house). anyone got any views on the respective merits of each area?

Out of those areas I would chose chiswick. Much nicer high street and lovely feel about the place.

thanks spotty, sounds great! I wasn't very clear on this - I meant NEXT weekend, will you be here too (with the baby!)?

1605 which part of Acton will have the crossrail? it will still take ages to make it nice, most likely. Area between Acton and Chiswick park is ok (backwater but not rough), but otherwise it's a bit grim imo.

I meant, 'will you be there'

I lived in Clapham & Chiswick both for quite a few years. I would def go with Chiswick. Great High Street. Good transport links. Good positioning to get out of the city. Kew Gardens within walking distance. Lots of green spaces. Nice community feel. I miss Chiswick. I don't miss Clapham.
