Tell me this is going to happen really

We went to the solicitor today to sign some things (the contact for the house we are selling, for a start) and the solicitor said that we (as in Team Jars, which includes the solicitor) need to get the boundary queries around the house we are buying sorted ASAP as our buyer is getting antsy and her solicitor is now calling him every day for updates. As are we. I asked him to call their solicitor and update them, rather than waiting for them to nag him.

Surely:

  1. this is for him to sort out, seeing as he is the solicitor and stuff.
  2. if the buyer is getting impatient this is serious as we could lose our sale and our purchase

Please hold my hand as there is nothing I can do, nothing, until this one final query is sorted out and then I will sign in blood, I will.

We accepted our poor buyer's offer in May and now I am terrified it will all go to shit and they will pull out or gazunder us or similar.

Help! Or reassure, or something. I am on tenterhooks and every week that goes by makes it feel less and less like we are going to move. I haven't even started packing just in case it jinxes the move.

Next house? NEXT HOUSE? Madwoman. [grin. Are you Sarah Beeney?

Oh, fingers crossed for you for the 25th but, from my extremely limited experience, do not set your heart on it. Not to be a massive pessimist but you could still be leaving it to your DP. We have heard, in the last week, the 10th, the 14th, the 17th, the 16th of October...

We might, if all goes to plan and my solicitor keeps up the good work, exchange with both parties tomorrow yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my butt.

I bet we don't until Monday, though. Why does everything seem to kick off on a Thursday? It just means that nothing is sorted out until Monday or Tuesday the following week. Grr.

Can I just say...

WE EXCHANGED ON BOTH HOUSES TODAYYYYYYYYYYY!

Three days before moving day, so nothing like cutting it fine, then. Hmm

We have literally until 1 on Monday to vacate here, then we have a mere two weeks at mum's (the vendors finally pulled their fingers out and found somewhere else to live, thanks guys) and then. We. Are. In!

I'm currently listening to the police helicopter circling low above the house, making a list of what we still have to get done and looking at the piles of crap boxes that sum up our lives for the last eight years here. DD was born in this room. DS stood up on his own for the first time just over there by the fish tank. DH proposed to me in the attic.

Oh well done I just found this thread looking for somewhere to have a rant.

We still haven't exchanged the HSBC lawyers ARGH I am welling up as I write this, are being picky about an illegal driveway which does not affect the value of the house ( rest is too boring to explain).

Our buyers today have threatened to withdraw from sale if we don't exchange today and complete on the 25th ( fuck that's next Tuesday)

So we have agreed to exchange downwards and rent the house we are moving into for £45 a day for 2 months, then complete he won't agree longer has said he can get more by renting it by the month- which I know is a lie he last rented it for £100 less. I am worried that if HSBC won't give us the money we won't have time to arrange a new mortgage ( we are borrowing %30 btw)

Anyway there is a letter for us from HSBC sitting in a queue to be typed and then faxed to us they won't tell our solicitor what the letter says.

We can't enter into a contract to buy the house untill we know what is in the letter and if it's bad news as from next Tuesday we will be homeless. :(
