Well, it's a bit too modern for my taste and the garden is a little small. And it is overlooked quite a bit. So I'd probably go for a house in not so expensive an area. Not too keen on that strange circular hole in the wall. I expect it must be a fireplace.

very quirky! i like the look of it -

pros - lovely kitchen space, separate futility, outdoors room (unusual in London?), 3 reasonable bedrooms, upstairs bathroom, i love the amount of light let in by those big windows...potential for ORP,

cons - master bedroom not that large, downstairs receptions 10*12 so not huge either...(could one incorporate hallway to make larger lounge? it looks to be a supporting wall) - no downstairs loo, no ORP..

why haven't they put in a photo of the bathroom if it is nice with roll top bath? there are two photos of some of the downstairs rooms.

the oval hole fireplace a bit odd, but forgiveably changeable.

i don't know Brockley, but the A2/ A20 are useful roads for getting out of town and this is a very central location.

It's been done up beautifully, gorgeous kitchen etc. Looks nice on the outside too.

Bit gobsmacked at the price, though, is that right for East London? Thank God I don't have to live in or near London.

crazyhead · 14/07/2012 12:34

Lovely, but for the money I'd want to live in a more chichi area really. Nothing wrong with Brockley per se, just 700k is a lot.

Mintyy · 14/07/2012 12:40

Trouble is, in a more chi chi area £700k would only buy you a bog standard 3 bed terrace.

I think it is overpriced: it is only 3 bedrooms, the garden is probably small. It will probably go for something like £625.

Nice and light, lots of white paint. Don't like the fireplace, looks like it's been made out of a washingmachine drum.

Brockleys nice, i thought.

StiffyByng · 14/07/2012 16:32

I'd say for that price you could get a large Victorian house in Ladywell or proper Brockley, although obviously you're further from the good transport links at New Cross. That house is quirky but definitely overpriced.

Wooster Stock write ups make my eyes bleed, and having viewed a few of their things, often make me feel like they're taking the piss.

ladymuckbeth · 14/07/2012 16:50

I know these EAs well, have bought and sold via them a few times and live in the area - although not Brockley. I once read a property description of theirs which opened with the line "This buxom five bedroomed house..." Grin

My thoughts are - you're paying for the privilege of being detached but losing out on the size of the rooms. Other than the kitchen/diner the rooms are too poky for my liking - none of the reception rooms look like they 'work' in terms of spaces - they just appear to have one piece of furniture in them facing a wall Hmm Cheap kitchen, small garden. Might be worth a look but I think I'd rather forego the detached bit and have more space. I think the area's okay and the connections look good at first glance.

Minty - what areas are you interested in and what are you looking for? We're in Peckham Rye and absolutely love it here.

ladymuckbeth · 14/07/2012 16:52

Lol, cross post with Stiffy - have to say my dealings with W&S as a buyer and seller have been pretty efficient. Just wish they'd drop the stupidly verbose blurbs and stop being quite so up themselves...

StiffyByng · 14/07/2012 17:11

We've just moved from there, LadyMB, and I'm missing it! We haven't gone far though. I did a LOT of looking in SE22, 23 and 4 and the more I think about it, the more I'd say that house price is just unrealistic.

nothinglefttolose · 14/07/2012 19:36

Fireplace is awful
Kitchen looks small and maybe a little cheap for the house.
Front looks lovely and I like the summer house.

laptopcomputer · 15/07/2012 01:43

I have nothing to add except jesus, that fake grass looks awful

jumpy2012 · 15/07/2012 09:29

My ex-boyfriend lived in Brockley when we first moved to London in late 80s...it surely must be an up and coming area because it was viewed as a bit of a dump back then! We went on to live in East Ham, Plaistow, Barking and Ilford before I dumped him and moved west.

Seems like a lot of money for what you get, and I agree about the fireplace!
