oooh, it's alush house - and garden!
Receptoion is a bit too frou-frou so expensive to refurbish! and yes, lotsof cleaning but possibly rates not bad in Belfast?

FamiliesShareGerms · 11/05/2012 12:49

Expensive to heat, what with those gorgeous high ceilings, beautiful original glass windows and lots of huge rooms?

bronze · 11/05/2012 12:52

What crocodile?

bronze · 11/05/2012 12:53

Ah rethingied and can see it now

bronze · 11/05/2012 12:54

Do you think anyone has ever started one of these threads and it's been another mners house?

BoffinMum · 11/05/2012 12:55

You can't buy it because I want it. Grin

bronze · 11/05/2012 12:57

Bit far away for you Boff

BeeInMyBonnet · 11/05/2012 12:58

It has a maids pantry. You'd need to get a maid to go in the pantry obviously.

QuintessentialShadows · 11/05/2012 13:03

You will need to make an offer with the curtains included, they are hardly likely to want to take them with them....

That is a lovely Country House Hotel in the waiting, that is.

Kaekae · 11/05/2012 13:04

Can't believe what I could get for my money in Belfast, my five bed semi in Surrey has been valued at 600k. Madness. Lovely house lots to clean but I like the size of the rooms a lot, but would have to change all the wallpaper carpets, fire and kitchen. Think it needs a bit of work TBH.

Longdistance · 11/05/2012 13:06

Yeah, agree about that modern cheap looking kitchen. Could have done better, definately not in with the theme of that posh house. What's with the croc? Not sure of the oversized vases, and yes, far too much cleaning to do, and too many bedrooms for ppl to make an excuse and stay as guests. Fantastic grounds though!

FannyPriceless · 11/05/2012 13:23

You would get sore arms from taking down all the frou frou curtain swags. The alligator would eat you. There is no decent indoor/outdoor flow. The kitchen needs to be completely re-done. You would need to purchase a lot of very expensive oil paintings to fill up the walls.

Basically, I can't see why anyone would bother with it.Wink

HollyGoHeavily · 11/05/2012 13:29

Could you commute to Manchester from Belfast?

thefurryone · 11/05/2012 13:35

Bronze I've been worried about that since I started this thread, I just hope the owners are too busy cleaning and feeding the alligator to spend time on the internet.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 11/05/2012 13:48

Nope. I've looked again, and still cant see an alligator/crocodile.
Where is it?

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 11/05/2012 13:51

Holly commuting wouldnt be a problem.
£30 or thereabouts on the first flight out in the morning would have you in Manchester for 8am.

CointreauVersial · 11/05/2012 13:54

That's a proper grown-up house that is. Lovely (and seems so cheap to a Surrey-dweller).

Not sure my IKEA furniture would cut the mustard in those surroundings, though.

suburbandream · 11/05/2012 13:57

Am I missing something? Is that the price for the WHOLE HOUSE???? I'm used to SE England property prices where that would be a few million at least Shock. Who puts pine on kitchen ceilings though???

suburbandream · 11/05/2012 13:58

falls off chair, obvs

timetoask · 11/05/2012 14:02

I would sell all the horrible artwork on display and update the kitchen!

Oakmaiden · 11/05/2012 14:05

Just think what an effort it would be to redecorate all of that. Far too much bother.

And the kitchen isn't at all nice sniff

oreocrumbs · 11/05/2012 14:09

SquirtedPerfume, the crocodile is in the 12th picture, the one will the 2 big vases! Its life sized I think you really can't miss it. I rather like it!

MadameChinLegs · 11/05/2012 14:10

Hard to find fault with what would be pretty much my perfect home, BUT you asked so:

*Too much detailed cleaning required (little squared glass windows etc)
*Too big a lawn to mow
*If you are into normal furniture, it might look odd in such a grand setting
*If you match the setting and go for grand furniture, would you be able to relax in it?
*The whole kitchen is ghastly except for the aga in chimney breast look
*You'd end up being the one who always had to entertain as the house is well suited to parties etc

Lovely bathroom though.

DizzyCow63 · 11/05/2012 14:13

Oh I'm about five mins away from that house OP! Lovely, drive past it all the time, but you can't buy it, I am in my dreams

MrsHoarder · 11/05/2012 14:14

Do you have ancestral portraits to put on the wall? Kiddy art really wouldn't cut it...
