Fitted bedroom furniture - can you recommend a company?

We would like fitted furniture in our bedroom, mainly because it is an awkward shape with sloping ceilings, a fireplace, windows on two walls etc and free standing stuff looks rubbish in it and wastes a lot of space. We've had a look at Sharps - it's ok but not over inspiring. Can anyone recommend a good company. We're in the East Midlands.

They're all pretty shocking, in my view. Charge loads, poor craftsmanship often as not, very poor materials. Many seem to use carpenters and flatpack assemblers rather than joiners to keep down labour costs, and they'll adapt their existing range, not make something bespoke for your house nad its eccentricities.

Find a local joiner or cabinetmaker by word of mouth, and he'll do the job for the same money, with proper skill and some accountability afterwards. If you can't afford tulipwood, painted MDF is the next best thing. FGS don't go for the nasty plasticky veneers that Sharp's do!

You've pretty much said what we were thinking thomas. I just can't believe there aren't any decent ones out there??

Agree with Thomas. We got a local joiner in and he did a beautiful job for a fraction of the price of Sharp's. He's gone on to do work for a number of our friends now, as they admired what he'd done for us.

Plus I know someone who got a Sharp's bedroom done recently and it looks really naff.

Local joiner. Every time.
Just make sure you get a recommendation.

Thanks all. Will have a look for someone - we did ask around but no-one could recommend anyone, but hopefully there will be someone out there who can do the job.

Are you including fitted storage or are you thinking fitted beds? We need to get storage built in and I wonder if the same advice goes!

Just storage - wardrobes, chest of drawers. Not bed or bedside tables.
