If anyone isn't sick to death of the subject, can anyone advise poor ol' bibbity on paint colour for new kitchen?

The units are white.
The work top is glass and this sort of colour.
The floor is light oak boards.
The room is long and narrow (8m x 4m) and faces due west so is quite dark until the afternoon.

Any thoughts on paint for the walls?

Red goes really well with that sort of colour, but may be too strong on the walls.

Lemon yellow?

i agree with Littlefish that red would be great. Maybe a red wash would take some of the 'sting' out of it? Or a pink/red or brick red?

Grey-mid to pale would work but might not suit the light levels.

Possibly Sung Blue or a very light mushroom.

acumenin I love you! Our kitchen colour scheme is virtually identical to bibbity's and, after dithering about colours for walls, finally picked one (and then lost confidence about it) that is just like Sung Blue.

Oooo am loving the sound of a very pale mushroom! V much. I think the room is too large for red walls all round.

Could you introduce some red accents? A blind, a food mixer, a vase etc?

I think you should go for F & B White Tie, with Pointing woodwork.

I would be worried blues will look grey in a west-facing room and possibly not be complimentary to that lovely green-blue glass worktop.

Your kitchen sounds lovely - I am desperately trying to persuade DH that we should update ours! And we have mushroom walls

Am hoping it will be lovely Tilly! At the moment all the loveliness is still in the shops and it is a bare shell of a room with wet bonding plaster on the walls waiting to be skimmed, only partly ceilinged, one bare 40 watt bulb dangling, dust and detritus all over the floor and about 60 builders bags of crap/rubble waiting to go to the dump. I think you have got to really really want and NEED a better kitchen to go through this rigmarole. It should be a once every 20 years job imvho .

How about red blinds?

I'm having my kitchen done at the moment.

I am having white cabinets, but high gloss lacquer. I have chosen a white Hi-Macs worktop, whitish quartz composite floor tiles with small mirror pieces, no wall tiles but will be having a glass splash back. The walls will be white. The room is north facing and very light and airy (a lot of glass).

White works for me as being a neutral backdrop for the pictures and art glass I'll be adding.

I have sung blue in the sitting room it is lovely. I think mushroom for your walls is a great suggestion. You could just get some lining paper and test pots and paint some large sheets and stick them up on the wall with masking tape, that is what I do.

Agree with the once every 20 years bibbity. My kitchen is just finished and I never want to do it again EVER! We had 6 weeks of living in chaos

Mine is painted units in F&B Tallow and Bone (cream and a pale sagey-green in english) with black/grey granite tops and a light oak floor. It is a modern twist on a traditional kitchen. I am debating whether to have colour on the walls or stick to cream and add colour in blinds and curtains
