Roller blinds - in or outside of the window recess? (And good websites)

We're about to redecorate our bathroom and kitchen before putting our house on the market and want to put up some roller blinds. Would you fit them inside the window recess or outside? I'm not sure what would look best. The walls will be painted in plain colours.

I'd like to try and get something that looks nice without spending a fortune and wondered if anyone had any recommendations of good cheap online suppliers?

TIA

I would always look to fit them inside the recess. It looks a whole lot neater and the blind will let less light in this way too. Got our most recent ones from www.orderblinds.co.uk and they are brilliant.

I think Roman blinds look better inside the recess, but they don't look bad outside. I've got a friend who lives in a beautiful period house, her Roman blinds have to be on the outside of the windows because the windows aren't straight. They look fine.

inside.

Wilkinson's sell perfectly acceptable roller blinds.

I have used onlineblindsukltd more than once. Good value and good service.

I was just about to put up a Roman blind in the recess in the window at the front of our house but I had already put one up at the back & realised how shabby it looked from outside. Either I have cheap blinds or another question why don't they make them to look nice on the reverse side? Any ideas cause without sounding too snobby I want my house to look nice from the outside too!

Hi everyone,

We are planing to fit roman blinds and need your help. I've contacted blonds 2 go but they don't know what they are selling.

I need to know how to calculate a roman blind drop down when fully retracted ( it used to be 5% of dropdown + 5cm) but need to be sure. So maybe anybody knows?

This is our balcony doors and was thinking about fitting blind outside of a recess. There is 23cm from the top of recess to the ceiling.

Thanks
Jakub

Jakub - sorry no idea, sounds very technical. Just wanted to say that Tuiss and blinds2go are the same company, but very different prices.

jakub · 02/01/2016 17:23

Sunnyshores , which one offers better prices?

Sunnyshores · 02/01/2016 18:46

Blinds2go are the cheaper. Tuiss had slightly better fittings with them, so if in regular daily use ie bedroom I might have paid the extra. Both offer free samples of the materials.
